A Family and Friends outing. The facility is located at an excellent intersection on Texas Avenue (the main drag), about a mile from the TAMU campus and about the same from the city's shopping mall, as well as Highway 6. There is ample parking as the building is bordered by the parking lot for the strip mall that is behind it. Access is easy.
The place was full and active but not noisy. The service was excellent, the manager of the facility, who (I am told) used to preside at the Outback up the street, makes it a point to stop off and chat with each table.
One of the nice touches was the bottled water standing ready at the table with ice in the glasses when our party was first seated. The Napa Flats menu tends toward the healthy selections. the selections are not as vast as some of the other franchises, but with our large party we tried a wide variety of the dishes and all were pleased. The pizzas are great; the swordfish was excellent; the steaks were also excellent. We did receive one poorly shaped filet (the end of the tenderloin) which should not have made it to our table. It was sent back and the manager came over to take responsibility and apologize as the replacement was cooked.
Deserts were also quite good, the gelato is extremely creamy and delicious.
For the prices this is a very good value when considering the quality of the food, the service, and the atmosphere. With appetizers, alcohol, desserts, and a generous tip the meal came to around $45 per person.
With this high quality of service and a strong menu selection (and good food) I can see us returning here.
