Not to be missed. The museum changes often with different exhibits. Always packed full of factual and interesting data. If you are lucky, perhaps, you'll see the Bushes there as well. they love TEXAS A&M as much as we all love them.
Special exhibits change frequently and are all outstanding. My oldest grandson, now 13, loves to visit the Museum. I always find something new and interesting. If in Bryan/College Station this is a must place to visit. Expect to spend a good hour or longer if you like to read every entry.
Highly recommended the George Bush Presidential Library when you go to College Station. Very classy and memorable. Plan at least 2 hours.
The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum is much like 41 himself-- modest but substantial. Despite its modest appearance, the library is a treasure trove of photos, relics, video and audio documenting the amazing life of one of America's greatest men and his family.
There is something for everyone, including an educational treasure hunt for kids, cleverly disguised in miniature dog houses in a nod to the Bush family's much beloved dogs.
There are great pictures dating back to the President's infancy, through his Yale days, service in World War II and his political career. There's even a plane just like the one young George flew when he was shot down over the Pacific by the Japanese. Loads of family pictures appear everywhere, underscoring how important family is to the President.
Realistic models of the Oval Office and Situation Room allow you to sit in the Commander-in-Chief's chair and imagine how he might have felt dealing with world crises. You can even pretend to use the hotline.
For history buffs, in depth materials on Operation Desert Storm, the fall of the Berlin Wall and disintegration of the USSR will keep you riveted.
Outside, a beautiful fish pond and garden help you to reflect on the life and times of this amazing man and his indomitable First Lady, Barbara Bush. It is a fitting tribute to a family that has given so much to this country.
This was an excellent collection, showing George Bush Senior's rise to the White House. Unfortunately, we were rushed through the tail end of the exhibit, only allowing ourselves about three hours to take it all in. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time for the tour!
Excellent museum. Very spacious, clean and appealing to all age-groups. Numerous inter-active displays.a piece of the Berlin Wall is here. Do not focus on the word "library" as this is a museum. You may find yourself "lost" for several hours in this museum. An excellent tribute to the 41st President/POTUS.
