We are a retired Australian couple who spent 7 wonderful nights at this Gite in July 2014. Our living area looked out through a double window over a spectacular mountain valley to the Grand Ballon (which we could see every day). Each day we explored nearby and this included the following six Michelin 3 Star sights - Colmar, Strasbourg, Riquewhir, Route des Vins, Route des Cretes and Ballons D'Alsace. We also took a short drive to Basel, Switzerland on one day. Mulhouse was also very close and we spent a full day visiting two outstanding 3 star museums nearby - Museum of the Automobile and Museum of the Train (which are in two separate locations but have a combined ticket). We could have spent longer at this Gite as there was still much to see in the area. The drive to the Gite was up a hairpin road which took about 10 minutes from Linthal, but worth every minute of the trip. Just over the road was a farm producing fresh milk, yoghurt and cheese, all of which we really enjoyed. Sleeping was up a steep flight of stairs from the living area and would be suitable for families. There was just two of us but the sleeping for 5 was all in the one sloped roof area. Personally, we found the sleeping area delightful.
Liked best:
The location was superb with tremendous views across the valley and mountains with cowbells ringing through the air.
Liked least:
Climbing the steep stairs/ladder to the sleeping area might be a problem for older people or those less agile.
