We just returned from an incredible week at Blisswood. We were looking for a place to get away from everything, decompress, spend time together and with God. We knew this was a special place the moment we pulled into the gate to be greeted by a pasture of bluebonnets. We stayed in the Texas Farmhouse, which was perfect for a couple that is dating, but seeking to honor God as well. The front porch was the perfect place for coffee and to catch the incredible sunrise through the trees. The pasture behind the house was where we enjoyed the sunset each night among the most beautiful field of bluebonnets we have ever seen. The beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed cooking breakfast together in the kitchen.

We took advantage of horseback riding, trap shooting, a couples massage on our back porch overlooking the bluebonnets, and an unforgettable picnic lunch at the gazebo at Enchanted Lake. Carol, Skeeter, and Armando were all so warm and helpful. They went over and above to make sure that we were well taken care of. We will never forget the long walks, our talks on the porch, and enjoying each other. This was everything we had hoped it would be. Blisswood has become very special to us and I just know we will be regulars.

Room Tip: Each house is different and unique. The videos on the website are a good guide. I narrowed it down...

So glad you were able to be here when the bluebonnets were in full bloom. They truly showed us their "true colors" this year. Happy you enjoyed BlissWood and will be regulars! Thanks for taking time to let me know about your experience.

If you're looking for THE authentic Texas country experience (and you also don't mind a healthy dose of luxury), then BlissWood is your next vacation getaway spot. As my lady and I are split between Austin and Houston, we wanted a convenient rendezvous somewhere in between for a weekend getaway. Suffice it to say, this spot blew us away on each and every front. The magic begins when you manually open the swinging gate (a required attribute of any Texas ranch), and travel through the sprawling grounds, painted with bluebonnets, Indian paintbrushes and lush countryside, complete with cattle and horses and everything else you would find on a true blue ranch. Each cottage, individually situated throughout the grounds, offers a unique experience. We stayed in the Lotus Room, an Asian-inspired decor that had a shower and jacuzzi hot tub unlike any we've ever encountered. The tub filled from the bottom and the shower had a built-in radio and foot massage device - that should give you an ample idea of the caliber you're dealing with.

Anyway, we woke up Saturday and drove to the nearby town of Chappel Hill (home of the annual Bluebonnet Festival) and had a bite to eat at Bever's Kitchen, a quaint spot on the main street. Great sandwiches, excellent pie. We then drove around until we landed at a cool bar that appeared to be a nice little fancy restaurant as well. It was called "R Place at Washington-on-the-Brazos." A surreal experience as we relaxed on the back patio of this relatively isolated venue, taking in the last of the daylight.

On our way back to Blisswood, we spontaneously dipped into a restaurant called Carol's in Cat Spring. Come to find out, the restaurant is owned and operated by the proprietor of BlissWood, the lovely Miss Carol. Once we put the two together, it all made sense - she was the embodiment of the charm, authenticity and everything else that was uniquely BlissWood. Carol greeted us like long lost family, not only asking if we had everything we needed, but genuinely interested in what brought us there, what we thought about the place, and the like. It was one of those experiences that can't be replicated with lavish expense or so-called 5-Diamond service of say, a Four Seasons or an Aman property. It's that personal touch that makes BlissWood an unforgettable Texas gem.

So, if you're in search for a hidden country getaway spot, one that presents itself like something out of a Larry McMurtry novel, look no further than BlissWood.

Room Tip: Only stayed in the Lotus Room, which was amazing. I'm sure each cottage has something unique to...

Thanks for taking time to let us know about your experience at BlissWood. Sounds like the perfect place for you and your gal to meet between Houston and Austin. Glad you came at a time when the bluebonnets were in their peak splendor and glory here. Mother Nature blessed us doubly!
Hope to see you again soon.

I simply cannot describe what a wonderful time I had at the Blisswood ranch! All my life I have dreamed of visiting Texas and staying on a real working ranch. This trip did not disappoint. From the beautiful property to the cozy cabin in the woods, everything was just as I had imagined or better! Carol was an amazing hostess, I was made to feel very welcome. The TX wildflowers in bloom at the end of march were a sight that has to be seen to be believed! A photographers dream! Horseback riding across the ranch was a highlight. Sitting on the porch of my little cabin, with the sounds of cattle lowing in the distance, enjoying my morning coffee while gazing out across an incredible field of wildflowers was the most serene I have felt in decades. Everything about my stay evoked a sense of rightness. My only regret is that I could not stay a lot longer. I felt a real sense of renewal and reconnection with the natural world after my short stay. I can only hope that a week or more of Blisswood is in my near future.

Glad we got to see them, too!

My husband and I spent two relaxing and peaceful days in paradise at BlissWood Oasis in Cherry Blossom. The atmosphere rejuvenated our minds and spirits. The cabin is beautiful and must be quite new. Every detail was well planned - the lovely boxes containing our breakfast, the robes, and the perfectly stocked kitchen. We ate at Cat's one night and enjoyed a delicious meal- the salmon was superb. The second night we cooked in the cabin. Our porch/patio area is perfect for relaxing and is very pet friendly. There's even a mat out front - we can't agree about whether it's a yoga mat (for sun salutations) or if it's for a dog . . . and we forgot to ask. We highly recommend this gorgeous place to anyone who wants to get away from the rush and stress of city life and/or work. Just walking around the grounds and visiting the horses, llama/alpaca (?), bison, etc. was very relaxing. Fresh air and no traffic sounds made it perfect. It did rain Saturday, but that was nice in its own way.

Thanks taking time to let us know how much you enjoyed your stay in the Cherry Blossom Suite at the Oasis. It is one of our newer suites, and we enjoyed decorating it with its little details. The mat can be used for yoga or just to enjoy! Thanks for dining at Carol's at Cat Spring and happy you enjoyed your meal there. Hope to see you back in the future.

My husband and I retreated to Blisswood from Houston for a weekend away before our first baby arrives. It was the perfect quiet weekend, away from the city! We stayed in the Texas Farmhouse and loved its charm. We enjoyed quiet mornings on the wrap around porch, a picnic in a beautiful field of bluebonnets, looking at all the animals on site, and several walks on the gorgeous property. We even got to include out dog, who is very much a part of our family! This was a very special weekend for us, and we look forward to coming back for another weekend away, or bringing our son with us next time!

I traveled here with my wife for Valentine's weekend to escape the harsh New York winter. We stayed in the Bluebonnet Bungalow, which we greatly enjoyed. The porch had rocking chairs and a beautiful view of some old oaks. We had enjoyed a fantastic couples massage on the front porch as the sun was setting--pure bliss in the woods. We also enjoyed a fun, peaceful horseback ride the next morning. Neither of us had any experience with horses, but the staff rode ahead and behind us and did a good job of keeping the horses in line. The Bluebonnet Bungalow was decorated with antiques; I would call it rustic beauty. It did get a little chilly at night, but there were plenty of blankets and a heater that we rolled in to the bedroom from the bathroom, so we were good. The shower had good water pressure and plenty of hot water, though it did smell faintly of sulfur. All of this is to say that while the Bluebonnet Bungalow was not exactly luxury, it was a very pleasant way to spend a night in the woods reconnecting with a simpler way of life. I understand that Blisswood just purchased some new bicycles, and the roads are a really nice place to go biking. The giant oak trees in the middle of the fields were stunning (especially at night under moonlight). I would recommend driving north 15-20 minutes to try Silver Saddle BBQ--great ribs. I would highly recommend Blisswood to anyone who wants to escape the fast-paced city and staring at screens. Also, while Bluebonnet Bungalow was nice, it seemed like the Enchanted Cabin had a more pretty location.
