A local had recomended this place so we decided to go. We were not expecting anything to great considering the small size of the town but we were blown away with the quality of this place, talk about a hidden gem! The prices are very affordable as well, great food, great value, great experience.

We have been to the restaurant twice in a two week period. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food for a small town restaurant. The stuffed pasta of the day (shrimp ravioli and chicken rosemary ravioli) with the lemon cream sauce was excellent. The antipasto plate was top rate as well. The prices are very reasonable. We would highly recommend a visit to Gennaro's.

This restaurant is fantastic! Great value and AMAZING food! The portions are so generous. The freshly baked bread and oil is to die for and the platter is a must! I was blown away by this restaurant, it is a must if you are staying nearby. It was recommended to us by the owner of the B&B at the Lakehouse B&B at Canyon Lake. So gad that we went.

Wow, totally bummed. We made reservations to take my niece out to dinner... and she got held up, so we went ahead to the restaurant. We arrived in the lobby ten minutes late for a 7:30 dinner reservation and were told we would have to wait an hour for a table. My husband asked about the reservation (which we had just confirmed) and we were told that we were late, and now would have to wait an hour to get seated. My husband asked, "For ten minutes???" The woman at the podium proceeded to tell us that we had been told that we needed to be exactly on time when we made the reservation, which was a bald faced lie. We were so offended that we opted to dine elsewhere. (We aren't the kind of people to make waves to "get our way.") Sad thing is, we liked the restaurant; but we will not be eating there again. I can't believe that the woman working the front (I have seen her there almost everytime we have eaten there, which is five or six times in the last three months--so I think she is either a part owner or a floor manager) would actually lie to cover up that they had given away our table. There was one couple outside and no one in the lobby; so assuming that they had solid reservations coming in the rest of the evening (yeah, right), if someone else was ten minutes late, would we have gotten their table??? Glad some new restaurants are coming into the area... because we won't be eating there again. This behavior on the part of management is repugnant at best.

If you are in the area and wanting a memorable Italian meal, don't miss this place! We booked a social living escape on line to visit the Canyon Lake area and the package included a free appetizer at Gennaro's. Far exceeded our expectations on food, service, location and price. We ordered the antipasto and caprese to start with along with the fresh bread and dipping oil. The prosciutto de Parma is the best and everything is fresh and yummy. One entree ordered was the rack of lamb with blueberry reduction, which they had run out of (we were late diners) but the manager (the owners son) graciously informed us and offered lamb chops instead which were perfect. A new taste experience was the flash fried arugula which gave the lamb a wonderful flavor bite for the dish. The other entree was the ribeye steak which was just as good. Our waiter and the other staff were very attentive and informative about the dishes, the chef and their history. The chef actually keeps a kitchen garden onsite. We boxed up our left over antipasto, caprese & bread with dipping oil and took it with us in a cooler the next day to the winery we toured and we were able to enjoy it all over again with a great bottle of vino. Dinner & 4 glasses of wine was so reasonable we thought they made a mistake. Every visit back to Canyon Lake or the general area will include dinner at Gennaro from now on to try more of their menu items. Thanks for a great experience!
