If you are ever in the Amarillo area from mid June to mid August this is a must see. It is an historical production of the settling of the Texas Panhandle. The cast is superb, the scenery is an outdoor amphitheater with the Palo Dura Canyon as the backdrop. Well worth the extra time on your trip to stop and see this. 2 hour production starting at 8:30 pm and ending about 11:00 pm. Short drive from Amarillo and there are plenty of places to stay in the town of Canyon located just a short drive from Palo Dura Canyon.

The second act is the best. Took me awhile to get into the groove of a musical (been awhile since I've been to one), but after awhile I enjoyed the campy-ness of it all, and the canyon setting/backdrop is breathtaking.

It can be hot in the sun; but there is lots of shade and with some water it is just fine. The lines move fairly fast - dinner is ok; nothing special - but plenty to eat and just enjoying the scenery made it worthwhile as an add-on. The show is great - very entertaining and a great way to spend an evening.

Our family of five included three teen boys, and all of us enjoyed this historical, action-packed musical with special effects and great acting. The heat was manageable with plenty of water to drink and a fast moving story line. The chuck wagon dinner beforehand was really good after spending the day exploring trails and caves in the canyon. The Musical was a great ending to our big adventure at Palo Duro Canyon.
