booked our horse ride down into Palo Duro early in May and was advised that for beginners we should take the early am ride. Texas does get very hot by noon so found this the best time to ride. we were all non-horse people so a bit on the "coward" list. The staff was wonderful, gave us the confidence we needed to have the best time possible. Horses were slow, knew the trail with no help from us, the guide was great and gave us lots of photo time. Palo Duro is a great place to take a first horse trip, one hour was just enough time. I would recommend it to also get the real feel of early Texas and what they experienced.

“Highlight of our USA trip!”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

As a family with a 11 & 9 year old we decided this would be a great experience and were proven right! With little to no riding experience, we were warmly welcomed by Jessie, Chris & Noah. Chris was exceptional with our 9 year old who was very nervous ready to back out of the ride. Chris stayed with him until he was comfortable and we all had an awesome ride through the canyon. It was so peaceful and beautiful. When we finished our 9 year old wanted to go again!!!!! Thoroughly recommend Palo Duro Riding Stables and hope to come back one day if we are in Texas again!

“We had a great time and we do not ride”
Reviewed July 8, 2012

Jessie, Chris and Noah were fantastic hosts for a 1 hour trail ride in the canyon. They were very welcoming, friendly and knowledgable about the plants, animals and history of the area. Hey took some great pictures for us that will help keep this great memory alive. My 10 year old son was particularly nervous but Chris was brilliant with him and even led his horse for a while until his confidence was up. Thanks we will be recommending you to everyone we meet on our travels.

“Real live horses...not just follow the trail critters”

Get ready to ride in the wide, open spaces...under blue Texas skies. Available for all levels of horsemen...just don't tell them you're an expert or you may get one like my husband did! Shot by us like a bullet out of...

“Take the jeep tour instead”
Reviewed May 25, 2012

My husband is an experienced rider, however the horse he was assigned was NOT safe for anyone. As we started down the narrow trail, the horse began to pitch. If my husband had not stepped off, he would have been thrown. The owner reluctantly gave us our money back and asked us not to return... like it was our fault that the horse was not calm and well trained !
