“Beautiful park”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

Nice for day trips. Good roads to drive to the canyon bottom and lots of opportunities for hiking with well marked hiking trails. There are several pull offs to take photos, but more would be nice.

“Awesome views”
Reviewed December 26, 2012

With the teperature being over 100 and heat warning signs posted everywhere, we didn't get to do any hiking but I could see that the many trails would be beautiful on a cooler day. The Lighthouse formation was very impressive from the rim and we would have loved to do the three mile walk out to it. Fairly short drive from Amarillo. This was a side trip for us from our Rt 66 trek and was very enjoyable.

“Big and empty”
Reviewed December 23, 2012

Many people love Palo Duro, but in my experience, the only interesting formation was the plateau in the cover photo here. The rest of the canyon is a large wasteland of undesirable vegetation and hostile wildlife.

“Another Beautiful Texas State Park”
Reviewed December 10, 2012

It seems to take forever to get here, but when you do, you won't be sorry! I live in Texas, and most places are nice, but the panhandle is just so flat with nothing enjoyable to see. As you are driving to Palo Duro, you begin to wonder if it really exists. Well, it does. The flatness just drops away into this fabulous park. It is just spectacular! There are many points of interest, hiking, and camping. Anyone who likes the outdoor will be blown away by the beauty and majesty of this park.

“Beautiful views!”
Reviewed December 7, 2012

This is a beautiful canyon to visit especially at sundown. You need all day to really enjoy the park. Hiking to the Light House Rock takes a while so bring a snack, a hiking stick and alot of water. Bring a camera so you can take pictures at sundown. The colors are so beautiful. There is plenty of wildlife and reptiles to watch and photograph.
