Owner description: We’re a museum dedicated to one thing: the history of the Panhandle-Plains region. But that singular focus expresses itself in a multitude of ways. Inside PPHM, themed exhibitions include those that showcase paleontology, archaeology, textiles, classic cars, petroleum, the Old West and a renowned art collection. PPHM offers visitors a chance to step into history with a life-size Pioneer Town, interactive Don D. Harrington Petroleum Wing, guided group tours and special events. With over two million artifacts, of which only a small percentage are on display, visitors marvel at the vast array of objects we showcase.

More than we saw just 2 years ago. Fantastic place to take friends unfamiliar with panhandle history prior to the musical

We are surprised sat this outstanding museum? There is a little bit for everyone including children. The exhibits have been updated and are very "hands on". One of the better energy related museums we've been to. They have a very good collection of western art.

The museum is a cool retreat after a hot afternoon in the canyon. There is so much area history summed up within these walls!

This place is a fun multicultural experience that displays all things Texan about life in the Texas High PlaIns (that's the Panhandle to you, Padhah!)

Indoor oil well, Indian culture, farming, arts, interactive fun for the kids and more.

If you make it this far into this region, you had better stop I at the TEXAN Restauraunt, Palo Duro Canyon SP and this place if you're any kind of fun loving, American at all!

Everything from the world's oldest production line Ford automobile (serial number 28), dinosaurs to windmills, oil rigs to oil paintings, Conquistador relics to Georgia O'Keefe, cars and guns. Really something for everyone.

The newly remodeled "Pioneer Town" re-opens on June 30, 2012. Looking forward to seeing that.
