“Would definitely stay here again”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2012

We stopped here for one night on our way to Colorado. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality as I did not expect much from a Holiday Inn Express. We were able to secure a two bedroom/two bathroom suite which was perfect for our family. The air conditioning worked very well. I also liked the fact that the hotel uses sheets around a duvet instead of your typical nasty polyester bedspread. Overall the room seemed clean although one of the bathroom sinks was cracked and needs to be replaced.

We arrived late, 11:15 pm, after a long drive. The front desk clerk was nice and efficient. There was nice flatscreens in the rooms. Breakfast was decent. We were there for less than 12 hours before heading out for Colorado but greatly enjoyed a good night's rest.

I stayed here one night while on a work trip. It was an okay stay, nothing special and nothing too bad either. It was fairly clean, and I felt safe. Normally, when you check in as a Priority Club member, they give you a small treat bag with a snack and a bottle of water. Not here. Per the employee at the desk, they have a new GM, and it's too expensive. The room was nice and large. The air conditioner did leave a lot of moisture on the carpet, but it was over 100 outside. There was a small stain on my bed cover. At most of the HIE's I go to, they give you two bars of soap in the bathroom- one for the shower and one for the sink. Here, you get just one. Breakfast was your typical HIE experience, other than the pancake machine was broken. The only other thing that stands out is the elevator. It was very slow and sounded like it was in need of some maintenance due to the noises it made. All in all, it was an okay stay; it served its purpose.

1-BAD:We made our reservation by the 800 number, the day before check in we called the hotel in Canyon we were told that they could not locate our reservation. We called the 800 number and asked that they conference call the hotel in Canyon to verify that we did in fact have a reservation. After A LOT of back and forth, Mike that was located in Canyon advised that our reservation just magically appeared. We advised Mike at that time that we were not getting in until 3AM at which time he advised that he would leave at note with the night person so there were no more hiccups.......guess what, get to the hotel at 3AM and they could not locate our reservation. Come to find out after A LOT of back and forth that they misspelled my last name.
2-BAD:Asked for toilet paper (yes, no toilet paper in the room) and a few extra towels. 2 hours later called the front desk for status and was told "I will get to it after I get my front desk straightened up". After a few "words" with that person, these items were delivered in 5 minutes.
1- GOOD: The lady that prepared the free breakfast Wed-Fri during our stay was very very pleasant and nice.
OVERALL: My son is attendng WT, not a lot of choices in Canyon TX, but I will stay at a roach motel before giving the Holiday Inn any more of my money. Let's see if Best Western is better.

This was our first stop on a "girls" road trip . The hotel staff was most pleasant and while checking us in, also tried to politely answer questions others were asking. The room was very clean and felt fresh. The breakfast selection the next morning was very good and well stocked. The other guests were friendly and it had somewhat of a nice home feeling. We ultimately stayed at 2 other Holiday Inn Express notels on our trip and were never disappointed!

We recently stayed at this hotel on our way home to Colorado. The hotel is a very typical Holiday Inn with the usual breakfast and accommodations. Everything was clean and well maintained. The hotel was full yet it was still very quiet. Our room faced the street yet we didn't even hear any road noise.

However, what we really appreciated about this hotel was the great customer service we received by the manager, Tammie, and Angel and Edgar at the front desk. They were all very courteous and went out of their way to make us feel valued and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

Ok, so on their defense, we changed our reservation to a day earlier, and we changed it when we were about 8 hours from the hotel. The hotel did not have the room type we had reserved for the next night, which was fine, but they said they would have a first floor room held for us. We told the reservationist that we would be late getting to the hotel because we were going to the Texas show first. They said there would be no problem.

When we did arrive, mind you, it was about 10:45 PM. The front desk did not have a first floor room held for us. In fact, he said there was only ONE room available. The man let my dad check out the room, so my dad and son went up to the room. When they used the key, they found the door to be locked with the latch. A man in the room had been sleeping, but spoke up that it was occupied. My dad apologized, and told him that the hotel had given him a key. Thankfully, the man in the room had a sense of humor and said, "Well, we only have room for one more in here!"

My dad and son went back downstairs and told the man the room was occupied. He apologized, and he was confused as to why the ONE ROOM available was occupied. He called the lady who was working earlier, and evidently, it was the room across that was still available.

We got into the new room without incident. There was a fridge and microwave, and the two double beds seemed to leave plenty of room. The bathroom was not overly large, but seemed to have a normal amount of space.

The following morning, we had the free breakfast. The pancakes were very weird. You pushed a button on a machine and it sent out the number of pancakes you wanted. The pancakes were not very tasty, and their consistency was...well, inconsistent. Some were round, some were flat and odd shaped, and the flavor was not good. There were lots of other items that were good...muffins, cinnamon rolls, yogurt, cereals, etc. The breakfast did have a big variety.

The hotel seemed to be very clean. We were not able to use the pool or hot tub because it was too late when we arrived. They were both indoor.

Besides the room mix up and the weird pancakes, this was a good hotel. If we had stayed longer, they may have been able to make up for those 2 things, but I have to leave it with a 4 for now.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Canyon on our way home from touring Colorado and New Mexico. We were very pleased. Spacious room, squeaky clean, beds were comfortable with nice linens, granite in bath, AC was cold, handy bench plus a desk. New flat screen TV, Nice breakfast, too. Maybe not luxurious, but certainly above standard. I'd recommend it to anyone and would stay here again.

Room Tip: Good value for a family!
