With offerings like chicken and dressing, meatloaf, CFS, squash, okra, this is truly comforting food. The place has a great location and a Christian environment. The wait staff is friendly and was happy to give us local information. The sweet tea was just what we needed in this unseasonably warm weather! The prices were very reasonable and it was an overall very pleasurable experience. If you are looking for good food, in a down home kind of place, give this one a try ;)

Very good food, great wait staff. Friendly. Definitely would go back if I'm am in the area. They serve breakfast and lunch. Best French toast I've ever had.

Exploring small towns with friends and stopped in here for breakfast. The food is very good. Two of us had standard breakfast fare, trying a little of everything, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, hash browns, bisquits and gravy, toast and gravy. One friend had the chicken fried steak sandwich. All were very good! Service is beyond excellent as are the prices. This is a must stop and eat!

we were in canton for first Monday and decided to try downhome based on its reviews...
we arrived late, about 7:30 or 8:00, but they are open til 9 at least during 1st Mondays according to the sign. mom and I both had the chicken fried steak special - senior/ smaller portion that anyone can order - love that! a just right portion arrived, hot, fresh, lightly battered and very tasty. homemade mashed potatoes and gravy, along with piping hot okra and a nice fluffy roll! all that yumminess for only 4.99! the smaller portion left us enough room to split a delicious piece of buttermilk pie! we liked the food and fast, VERY friendly service that we returned for dinner the next night, and ate early the day we were leaving JUST so we could eat there again! catfish and fish sandwich were great, and I had the build your own breakfast one night, choice of 3 of the following for 3.99 :2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 biscuits and gravy, grits, on or sausage. breakfast anytime too. food was all fresh, hot, homemade and yummy! and all the servers were happy, fast, friendly and efficient! HIGHLY recommend!!!!

We have been vendors at 1st Monday MKT for 20 years and this is the best place to eat in Canton for just plain good food. Try the CF steak.
