We are slow in writing our review. We stayed at The Brenham House almost a month ago! We cannot say enough nice things about our stay with James and Susan! We stayed 2 nights in the Robin's Nest room. The delicious 3-course breakfasts were served formally, yet laid-back enough to enjoy pleasant conversation. James made sure to remember every guest's name and engage them in conversation. When we arrived, our first names were written on a "Welcome" chalkboard by the door. There were homemade brownies the first afternoon, which were placed in baggies for us to take with us as we toured the town the next day. When we came back that evening, there were heart-shaped Valentine's sugar cookies that we ate and enjoyed, despite already being very full from the Valentine's dinner we had at "R Place", which was also a recommendation of James and Susan! We received several great recommendations of places to visit from our wonderful hosts. There is even a "welcome" binder in each room that gives recommendations of all kinds! After a long day of walking around and eating entirely too much, we borrowed a DVD from the house DVD basket downstairs and fell asleep watching it in the recliner chairs in front of our TV in our room! It was such a nice, relaxing vacation from the hustle and bustle, we almost didn't mind the chilly weather Brenham had that weekend!
We can't wait to go back!
