“Great get away!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 29, 2009

Friendly, professional staff, and great diner style restaurant next door. Very convenient!

The rooms were very nice, clean, and smelled pleasant.

If you are worried about the highway noise, cut on the fan in the bathroom and leave the bathroom door open. We did that and we never heard the highway traffic.

  • Liked — location, restaurant next door, shopping / lake withn 10 miles
  • Disliked — buzzing sound of the fridge

Wasn't expecting much from a $60/night Best Western in a small town, but this BW is better than most motel-style BW's with relatively newer furnishings, clean rooms (minus a few stains on the carpet & couch), and it even comes with a mini fridge and microwave. Check-in and check-out was a breeze, only complaint would be that the hair dryer in the room didn't work.

Didn't have time to stay for breakfast but locals around Brenham say the discounted breakfast at the restaurant next to BW is some of the best in town.

  • Liked — Free wireless internet
  • Disliked — Broken hair dryer, AC seemed to have a mind of its own.

We stayed at this Best Western for one night and were very pleasantly surprised. The room was very new and clean. Beds were comfortable, plenty of towels, coffee making supplies, microwave and refrig in the room. The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful in giving information about the town. We went to see the blue bonnets and the festival at nearby Chappell Hill. We had a great time and will try to return next year.

Nice staff but unless you can stay on the backside, you better like truck and highway noise.

  • Liked — Pool and most of staff were great
  • Disliked — Power outage was not handled well, manager want to get everyone flashlights but didn't

I stayed here over Easter weekend with my wife for work. It was an excellent hotel for the money. I had a small problem with housekeeping, though, as when my wife and I left the room for lunch and returned afterwards the room had not been cleaned. We specifically asked the front desk to make sure that the room was cleaned. Upon calling the front desk the agent told me that the housekeeping staff had attempted to clean the room but they saw the Do Not Disturb sign on the door and moved on. We did have the sign on the door, but we left the room at about 11AM and specifically asked the front desk to ensure the room was cleaned.

I would definitely advise you to stay at this hotel, especially if you just want a nice weekend getaway at a reasonable price. Blue Bell Ice Cream, Inc. is a few minutes away and there is some terrific shopping in the quaint downtown area of Brenham. One thing I also recommend is going to see the miniature horse monastery, which is operated by a group of nuns. The horses are incredible to look at and they let you get in the pen with them and pet them. We spent about an hour hanging out with the horses.

Overall, a nice hotel in a great little town just 70 miles northwest of Houston.

Valmont Industries, Scott & White Hospital, Brenham State School and the Blue Bell Creameries all send workers to the region, and we’re happy to host business guests. We offer a free hot breakfast to all guests, and hot waffles with fresh fruits, yogurts, cereals, pastries and 100% Arabica coffee is a great way to start the morning. ... more   less
