I've been on this tour a number of times. My Husband had worked there for 25yrs, All of our family members have enjoyed it more than once. Over the past 100yrs or so Blue Bell has grown in size an are in a number of states an when George Bush was in office it was shipped to him on a regular basis. This is well worth a visit when you are visiting Brenham. You also get to shop for Blue Bell things in there country store an sample the ice cream in Texas an across the U.S.A.

A brief (30 min) tour is followed by a sampling of one of 16 flavors of their delicious ice cream. The tour is $4 for seniors but the very generous scoop of ice cream at the end would cost you more than that at a premium ice cream shop. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area.

The creamery is a Texas honored tradition and treasure. Great for children, though you've got to know that they don't do tours on the weekend! So double check by calling to ensure that you can visit on a tour day; tours are generally first come first serve.

We called ahead to inquire about the tour price and schedule. The employee who answered the phone must have not wanted us to visit. She said it wasn't likely we'd get on a tour due to "a room full" of people so not to bother driving over. Nonetheless, we stopped in anyway and had no problem booking our spots for the very next tour. Not sure why she tried to dissuade us from visiting. The tour itself is quite interesting and informative. The day's weather was gorgeous and we enjoyed walking about seeing the blue bell flowers and antique delivery truck.

My family had so much fun at the Blue Bell Creameries. The tour is short, but about the right length for the kiddos. It was so interesting watching all of the production lines. Get there a little early so you can see the history displayed in the gallery. (Just a side note: They have the cleanest public restrooms I've ever seen!) We were impressed to find out that they receive all of their fruit whole and fresh and cut it themselves to add to the ice cream! At the end of the tour, they give you the "cold experience" by allowing you to walk through a room the same temperature as their freezers (-20). Of course everyone's favorite part was the complimentary generous scoop in the ice cream parlor at the end. Yummmm!
