“Does not measure up to Texas BBQ standards!”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

Surprised that this joint had so many positive reviews but many were from out of state visitors that may have had little to compare it to. The chopped beef was way over dressed with BBQ sauce,,..the meat was tender but no flavor due to the over abundance of sauce. The potato salad tasted like something out of a pre made tub. The lady at the register was nice but all the other employees were running around like it was training day. The only positive to this place was clean restrooms and the atmosphere was decent for being attached to a gas station!

“Good BBQ”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Large portions - helpful and friendly staff. Parking area seemed to be a little confusing. We did not see a sign (although we could have missed it) as to where we should park. It was not a paved area.

“Good but not great”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

Considering you are in Texas where barbeque isgreat, this place does not rank in top 10. It is good but it is rather expensive. The restaurant is connected to a gas station which I believe is same owner. The service was good initially but when ordered more food to go the service was less then good. Not sure why but it was a different server. Will I come back, probably not.

“The Real Deal for Local BBQ”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

Nathan knows his stuff.....his grandmother's recipes for so many of the items he prepares make it authentic homestyle food....the BBQ is always delicious, flavorful & juicy......the dine in atmosphere is inviting but you can also get it to go!

“Keep on driving :(”
Reviewed January 21, 2013

Nathan's was a great little place to stop in and get BBQ and then they decided to expand. Well.... bigger is not always better. This is the second time that we have stopped and picked up BBQ there so I cant say that this is a one time occurrence. The brisket was dry and cold.. I ordered moist brisket. The BBQ sauce that used to be the BOMB tasted like tomato sauce. We spend $72.00 and change on 1.5 lbs of brisket, 1/2 chicken, a partial link of sausage, 1 rack of tasteless ribs,1 sm cole slaw, 1 qt of beans, 1 sm mac and cheese, 1 sm black eyed peas and 1 sm cole slaw. The green beans came out of a can.... glad I asked!

When the sauce is bad and you cant cover up the taste of the bad BBQ with it.... it goes in the trash. The Salt Lick would not have cost that much! Sorry guys, even the locals dont like you anymore...
