“2nd visit better than first!”
Reviewed July 12, 2014 via mobile

First visit had good food, great service, nice atmosphere... But my main meal was awful- salmon soaked in Italian dressing? The second meal there more than made up for it! Server (jasmine) was fantastic and the salad bar was fresh and well stocked. Boyfriend got beef which he enjoyed. The bread rolls are homemade and delicious! Worth coming for lunch or dinner- even from del rio.

“Possibly the best in town but...”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

That isn't saying a lot. There just aren't many places to eat in Bracketville, TX. We walked in the door at 12:02 pm on a Friday. There were 11 others eating there, 5 being Border Patrol agents and two others that appeared to be associated with the police department across the street. We placed our order quickly and helped ourselves to the salad bar which was small but well provisioned. Forty-five minutes later we were served a hamburger and a ground steak. The ground steak was the smallest I have ever seen. I would guess that it totaled 3 ounces. It was topped with a few fried onions and brown gravy straight from the can and was tough. How do you make a ground steak difficult to chew? The accompanying baked sweet potato was equivalent in size to approx. 6 short french fries. I honestly did not know that sweet potatoes came that small.

We had eaten here many years ago when it was primarily a BBQ house and enjoyed it thoroughly. Now the serving seems to be done in a lean-to extension to the original stone building. The room was way less than half full but so noisy that we could not carry on a conversation across the table. They badly need some acoustic attenuation. The only thing up-scale about Barbara's Table was her pricing.

Delicious! My husband had the chicken fried steak. Not too big, but perfectly prepared. Just right with a trip to the salad bar...soup, baked potatoes also on the bar. Looked amazing! I had one of the specials...chicken salad/fruit plate. Best chicken salad I've had in a while! Finished the lunch with a chocolate peanut butter banana cream torte...out of this world!!! Great experience!

“Upscale for Brackettville”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

Although there's not a very large menu, this is definitely upscale for Brackettville. The preparation is very good and the salad bar is absolutely the best in town. I go there when I want something more than burgers or Tex Mex.
