Crescent Quarters Inn
Ranked #9 of 11 Boerne B&B and Inns
Reviewed July 12, 2012

Bought a Groupon to stay at Crescent Quarters for 2 nights. It was definitely worth every penny and more! Boerne is an adorable city and 2 nights wasn't long enough to take it all in! The balcony off which the rooms are situated is beautiful and very clean. It would be a great place to sit with friends and have a glass of wine or a cup of coffee. Alas, we were there with children and didn't have that luxury! The Shabby Chic room we stayed in accommodated the 5 of us quite well. That was a welcome bonus, as the little one has to sleep on the floor in a chain hotel! The bathroom looked to be recently remodeled and it was nice to have a fridge in the room. I loved the keypad check in . . . it felt like an apartment home rather than a hotel. There is a new trail being built along the river, and it is awesome for walking or running along. Access to that is just behind the Crescent Quarters. I would have liked access to extra towels and blankets, but overall I would definitely recommend this place to others.

There are deficiencies in the Cresent Quarters if you are looking for a spic and span, brand new build with spotless walls and and a suburban feel. The reality is the building is old and the rooms are kitschy, but the location can't be beat. Right on Main Street, the Crescent Quarters Inn is right in the middle of the shopping district. Also, numerous dining opportunities are seconds and minutes away. A brand new walking trail along Cibolo Creek runs by the back end of the C.Q. parking lot. We were ambivalent about the room . . . it was small and there was little furniture for lounging. The bathroom was small, but functioned sufficiently. The air conditioner was very cold, and that was a huge plus after summer days spent walking the town. The walls were thin . . . we could easily hear the conversation in the room next door until almost 1:00 a.m. As another reviewer said, the "breakfast" was pretty spartan. There is no "management" on site . . . if you need to contact someone, you can reach the manager/owner in town. Note that the location on Main Street also means street noise -- including sirens -- throughout the night. I'd stay at Cresent Quarters again for the location, not for the quality of the rooms.

Was passing through San Antonio on our honeymoon cross country trip and decided to stay at the crescent quarters inn in boerne because of a groupon deal for the new orleans suite. We arrived late at night, when I flipped the switch on in the bathroom, there was a HUGE cockroach in the sink. I've dealt with plenty of roaches before, but I had never seen one this large, I nearly had a heart attack. My husband scared it off behind the sink, but I was shaken for the rest of the night. Although the bathroom was newly renovated with a large shower and a very nice air bubble tub, I couldn't fully enjoy it. There were also alive and dead moths around our room. If you stay here, simply expect a pest or two to pop up during your stay. Boerne is a very cute town though!

Cannot truly say it is an average B&B..I've stayed in nicer motels..Decor is funky, but a mish-mash, hodge-podge of stuff that didn't match whatever "theme" they were aiming at. Not worth the money to me. "Gathering room" was not as nice as my camper. But we had a nice time with our friends.

I've stayed at better Econolodges. The furniture is filthy and a wall shows years of water leaks. The shower didn't work, but they did fix it. Neither did the ice machine. Breakfast part of B&B is near non-existent; basically a bowl of Special K, a little fruit, OJ and some breads. The Wi-Fi is weak and intermittent.

For the price any other place in town would have been better.

Booked the Crescent Quarters through Groupon. It probably was worth the Groupon price but not the regular full price.

GOOD: Location in center of Boerne is excellent. The funky decor of the Art Deco room was charming. Room was very clean except for dirt on the HVAC grilles. The towels and linens were nice but not opulent. There was plenty of parking behind the inn, but it was not reserved for inn guests which might be a problem on major holidays.

NOT SO GOOD: The bed creaked with every movement and the mattress was too soft and sagged in the middle. The provided toiletries were minimal and minuscule, about what you would find at the cheapest budget motel. There is no deadbolt to secure the door while you are in the room. Recent renovations of the bath left uncaulked gaps that are ugly and will prove problematic for the owner. The dark rough slate tile on the bath floor was the wrong choice for comfort and easy cleaning. The "gourmet" breakfast consisted of fruit, cereal, and cheap packaged pastries. In central Texas you expect at least fresh German style pastries for breakfast. The appearance of the common room and food were not confidence inspiring. The next morning, we ate down the street at the Bear Moon Cafe, which was very good.

Had a wedding to attend near Boerne and saw Crescent Quarters while doing a few searches. Most of the rooms were already booked, but we were able to reserve the Art Deco room at ~$120/night. Arrived late so all of the shops were closed, but my wife and I had brought a split of wine, so we enjoyed that on the balcony in the chairs that were set up overlooking Main Street. Checkin was easy as we only needed the electronic code provided to us on our confirmation report to get into our room. Location is great on Main Street. Walls are a bit thin but you hardly notice anything given the lack of late-night traffic on the streets. Rooms were clean and generous in size. Grabbed a quick bite from the buffet breakfast before we left Saturday. It's nothing fancy, but the eggs and bacon were great. Not sure what other deals are around town but think it would be hard to beat this at $120 for a weekend night. Think this hotel would be a good spot for a group of friends booking rooms on the balcony.
