We spent four nights at the Hampton Inn in April to explore the Hill Country area. The hotel was situated next to an interstate but noise was not a problem. It was convenient too for restaurants and supermarkets (we are from the UK so do not call them grocery stores!). The room was clean and spacious with comfortable beds and a good standard of housekeeping. We enjoyed the area around the pool which was generally quiet with lovely rural views and a rather inquisitive long horn steer who made himself a focus of attention.
The hotel is well situated for ventures out to places such as Fredericksburg, Utopia (the setting for the film 'Seven days in Utopia'), Guadalupe River State Park, Bandera and Medina.
The area is of outstanding beauty and our visit coincided with the blooming of the bluebonnets. (see photo)
|For British people the roads are a dream as there is so little traffic and the scenery is to die for. There was an abundance of birds, insects (particularly butterflies) and other wildlife to view.
The hotel and surrounding area has a lot to offer and is well worth a few days exploring.
Thanks to all the friendly staff who took the time to make our stay so enjoyable.
Lastly, the Hungary Horse restaurant was great value. See photo.
