The lunchroom at the Hotel Blessing is a well kept secret. We have eaten there before and we have been known to drive an hour out of our way to have lundh. The food is plentiful and delicious. It really IS "home cooked". Sundays they always have turkey and dressing (But they also had ham and roast beef). You help yourself. Just walk in and grab a plate, head over to the stove and pile it on You can pay before you eat or after. It makes no difference. There are choices (or options) of meat, side dishes, desserts and pie. Iced Tea is included with your meal. $9.00 a head to feed your body as well as your soul. It is good food at a reasonable price.

My husband, family and, friends have stayed @ Hotel Blessing many times since 2005. Staying @ Hotel Blessing has always been a wonderful experience, we enjoyed every stay! The restaurant is another wonderful experience! Ms. Helen and kitchen staff prepare the most delicious, home cooked meals! Before buying our vacation home in Palacios, my husband, family, friends and I would take frequent trips to Blessing on a Sunday morning. We would take the 2 1/2 hour drive just for a home cooked delicious meal! The Palermos Sutherland Springs TX

We went here on a road trip on a recent Sunday. The buffet has a wide variety of comfort foods all for $9 per person. Just pay at the register when you arrive, grab a plate and start filling it up.
They offered turkey and dressing, fried chicken, ham, green beans, black-eyed peas, squash, gravy, mashed potatoes and much more. Dessert and drinks were included and you can go back again and again. Afterwards we wondered into the hotel to look at all of the old pictures and the rooms. It is like going back in time here. Kinda neat, but I don't think I would stay here just yet.
I would go back again for lunch if I were in the area.

We did not spend the night here, but did have lunch today at Hotel Blessing. I enthusiastically recommend their buffet lunch for anyone seeking a taste of 1906 Texas history.

As we walked through the front door, we saw a hotel lobby that looked as if frozen in time since the early 1900’s. A few modern gadgets have been added for comfort (air conditioning, etc.) but for the most part, it felt like stepping into a time machine and being transported one hundred years into the past.

We opened the old wooden double doors into the dining room, picked up our plates, and started grabbing and scooping wonderful food from pots and pans heated by antique cast iron stoves. The chicken fried steak and cream gravy tasted just like my great Aunt Alta used to make in Central Texas fifty years ago. My wife said the fried chicken was the best she had ever had.

Hotel Blessing is a hidden Texas gem and is well worth a visit.

It is an antique hotel, with a ton of character. The front desk lady is very helpful. The rooms seem clean, but as I said it is very old. I think because of the price it is rented out by the week to workers and people of low income, because I did not see another "guest" as we were in the hotel. The restaurant was great for breakfast! Awesome atmosphere, very downhome. The beds in the rooms need changed out, very old and uncomfortable. If you like the experience of something different and your not looking for the Ritz Carlton, then this is a fun unique place to stay and INEXPENSIVE.

Room Tip: If you dont like hiking your luggage up the stairs, then I would choose a ground floor room.
