“The Tastiest Brews in Texas”
Reviewed May 15, 2012

Experience a cornucopia of tastes every Friday at the Real Ale Brewery tasting room. You can see why they received not only national accolades but Gold Medals for some of their brews. Fireman’s Four could be the best tasting beer in Texas. The brewery tour is great! They are always expanding, they have trouble keeping up with demand!

“Small Town, Great Beer”
Reviewed December 7, 2011

Real Ale Brewing has become known as a producer of great American Ales. With this in mind I offer this Friday afternoon tour of Blanco TX.
Here's the plan. Go to Real Ale most any Friday between 2 and 4 (Check website for closed days) . They have two tours of the brewery and the Tasting Room pours samples from 2 - 5. We've done the tour already so we just do the tastings which usually includes some things you can't easily find and possibly some strange experimental potion -(we had a taste of a bacon/ghost pepper beer). Note - due to Archaic Texas laws you can't buy beer at the brewery so the tastings and tour are free. Hill Country Liquor just south on 281 stocks Real Ale's current bottled offerings. The brewery tasting room does have some very nice T shirts and Glasses for sale. If you get there about 4 you can do an hour's worth of sampling and talking to some cool people and then CAREFULLY (WATCH THE SPEED LIMIT) drive to downtown Blanco and Zocalo Eclectic Cafe for an amazing dinner. You can order a sandwich if you like but their chef does some great dinner entrees. When you finish there if you still have a thirst for Real Ale on tap saunter on down a few blocks to the Red Bud Cafe on the square where they pour all their current brews.
