This western ranch is a nice get away IF you don't have a large family. Otherwise it is too costly as you are charged per person. So for my husband and I it was the price of a five-star hotel around $259 a night plus tax. Breakfast is provided, omelets are great. There's a water park, but it was VERY crowded!! The lazy river is anything but relaxing. I think it would be best to go during the week when the kids are suppose to be in school. Horse back riding was nice - through the forest and old dirt roads. There was also ghost town where we had a barbecue dinner and of course hay rack rides, but overall there's not a lot to do and there's not much going on in town. All-in-all, I would say that it was "OK". The bathroom was large (but we had ants and a large wood roach to remind us we were in the country :-). The bed was comfy, the kitchen and dishes were reminiiscent of home but I guess I was expecting more for those prices.

The Flying L is not a "Dude Ranch". It was as our son called it, a "Dude Resort". The villas are very nice. They are spacious, have a full kitchen, and full washer and dryer. The waterpark is a pool with some additional amenities. The part that we had an issue with was the add-ons (kids activities require a fee, as does riding the horses). We did ride the horses and Joe Buck was great as a guide, but at $34 per hour per person was a lot of $$$. The golf course was great! From the tee box to the greens was impeccable. Every night we did have Smores around the campfire, and that was nice. It is a nice place and if you are looking for a great golf resort in Bandera, you need to go here.
