“A great place to get away from it all”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

This is a great place to get away from it all! We had a great time. Everyone there was so friendly and welcoming. Keep in mind...this is a ranch, not a 5 star hotel. We stayed in one of the cabins. It was clean and roomy. There is no cable but, this is more of a place for relaxing. There is a pool- we did not use it as it was February when we were there. We enjoyed breakfast two mornings and sat by the campfire at night. We did not use the game room, so I can't comment on that. We would definitely recommend staying here!

We stayed here 2 nights for hunters weekend. We had a cabin. It had 4 bunk beds and one double bed, a cozy little restroom and a television that only plays DVDs and VHS tapes. Although we did not have any DVDs or VHS tapes with us, that is still better than nothing at all if you must have a television. Our cabin had a window unit AC and heater and it kept the room temperature just right. Our cabin had a great front porch with chairs and a glider. It may not be the fanciest place, but just to be able to sit outside on the porch and talk and have a few drinks was great! So much better than a motel where you are trapped in the room and staring at a parking lot. The grounds of twin elm are nice, there are horses and a couple of dogs, ice is available for purchase and there's even a small gift shop in the office. It was so reasonable at $90.00 a night. We were there to have a good time in town and we did! It was nice to have a room with a nice porch and good sized bathroom to get ready in. We will definitely stay there again. We never saw housekeeping but we had more than enough towels for our party of 4. Twin elms is cute and rustic and close to town. We loved it! We only had one vehicle we and had a small driveway right on the side of the cabin. They also have meals and activities available for purchase, but we did not need that, as we ate in town. Bring your coolers- there is no fridge or anything like that. We are planning our next trip back!

My wife and I stayed at Twin Elm for 2 nights as part of our 25th Anniversary adventure exploring Texas. The staff was welcoming and did everything they could to make our visit comfortable and enjoyable. In fact, everyone from Ms Victoria at check-in to wrangler Mike on the trail-rides made us feel like we'd known them for years.
If you're looking for 5 star lodging with a fancy, overpriced restaurant you won't enjoy Twin Elm Guest Ranch. But, if you want a relaxing, unique experience with clean rustic rooms, and plenty of fabulous home-cooking you will love the place.
Sincere thanks to the entire staff for their hospitality and country-good time. We have travelled to many "top destinations" such as San Francisco and Hawaii and our visit to Twin Elm is easily one of our favourites! We hope to return soon.

First off, I see that all of the negative reviews have been removed from this website, so that sort of defeats the purpose, but whatever......

I was actually going to defend the ranch and say that I think that the negative reviews were coming from guests that might not have realized what they were signing up for.

This is not a 5 star boutique hotel, this is exactly what it advertises itself as, a guest r-a-n-c-h. We only stayed for one night and arrived mid week so wound up being the only guests on the property. I would have liked hanging out and meeting some other guests, but the hubs isnt as social and we were probably better off on our own. And when I say on our own, I mean literally the only people on the ranch. The office was closed when we arrived with a key left out for us, there was one ranch hand that I dont think spoke english and then there was a horse guide and his wife that said "Hi" and then disappeared. On a positive note, this provided us all the privacy we could ask for, but being a child of the 80s memories of Camp Crystal Lake and Jason made me a little uneasy!! The rooms were charming and rustic with a decent bed and acceptable private bath.

The major complaint about this place is that there were no TVs, no TVs in the rooms and 2 TVs to share in the recreation area, but they were only for DVDs (that guests are supposed to supply) This caused major upset for the husband, first because at the rate they charge per room a TV should kinda be standard and secondly, because in this day and age no TV??? So we decided to suck it up and make the most of it. We took a nice swim in the pool which was a little worn and could have used a swipe of the skimmer, but enjoyable. The poolside restrooms were very clean and well maintained. After it got dark there was nothing else to do but to hit the "rec-room". I was excited for an old-fashioned "unplugged" game night, but that didnt work out so well. The pool table was pretty well used with missing pieces, dented balls and wobbly cue sticks. The air hockey table didnt work at all and none of the other games and toys came complete with all their pieces. The husband was not impressed to say the least and so morning and check out couldnt come soon enough..... We were scheduled for a ride the next morning, but after such a disappointing night, we decided just to scrap the whole experience and head off.

The Twin Elm ranch has soooo much potential to be a great place, but they need to fix up and/or replace some things. The staff seemed nice, but we didnt see much of them. I feel like because we were the only guests there that night that the staff might have taken the opportunity take off which is kind of understandable, but not really fair to the guests that are left behind. Maybe that is the reason why our stay wasnt as fun as we expected, we were left alone with questions about the ranch and our stay and would have appreciated a staff member on hand when issues with the equipment and games came up. Running the guest ranch is probably very time consuming, but guests should receive the same service and attention whether there are 2 guests on the premises or 20.

I would recommend the 2E Ranch if you are looking for a summer camp like experience different than most any place else you will visit. It was dated, rustic and worn in like an old pair of cowboy boots, but still clean and well maintained and although the staff was MIA, of what contact we did have, they were very nice.

If you are looking for posh B&B type accommodations or resort amenities, the 2E Ranch probably isnt for you.

For the owners who will probably delete this review as well, I hope that you are reading these reviews and using them to make some changes. Your Ranch has the potential to be an awesome place with just a little tweaking.

My boyfriend and I are a young couple from london who are travelling the states and wanted to experience authentic ranch life and have a good time, none of this commercial holiday camp stuff that I have seen. Well we definately got what we wanted staying at Twin Elm! We had the most amazing time and would definately go back.

Victoria and Cap the managers of the ranch are so welcoming and helpful. We arrived about 3pm on a Thursday and were greeted by Victoria who is full of life and very friendly. She showed us around and took us to our room. We were staying in the travel lodge room 5 saddle pals! It was just what we wanted a rustic cabin for two. If your looking for 5stars and to be waited on go to a hotel!! But this is not what we wanted, this was better as it was real! Victoria left us to our own devices, which is what we liked. We could go for a swim in the pool and cool off or go walking and see the views. Know one telling you what to do and when, the only thing was breakfast lunch and dinner were at set times. But that was fine by us.

The views are amazing especially when the sun goes down at night. That first night we were the only guest on the ranch and were really made to feel welcome. We had dinner which was nice home cooked meal "chicken fried steak" and vegetables yum. My boyfriend liked it so much it went for seconds! And for afters home cooked peanut butter cookies yum! After dinner we asked what we could do and they said Justin, one of the wranglers would make a fire at 7pm. So we headed outside. We met Justin and he was so friendly and welcoming we had a great time with him and he even welcomed us up to his home where we met his wife and fellow wrangler Mike and his girlfriend. We had an amazing time talking and drinking.. So welcoming.

We were only at the ranch for a couple of days but we got to ride with Justin as much or as little as we wanted. Justin was great in the trails teaching us about the horses and telling us stories of his life and time being a wrangler! We can definitely say we made a good friend.

We will definately go back some day and would say you have to visit at least once to experience such lovely people!

We visited Twin Elm Ranch as part of our roadtrip vacation and it was the hightlight of our holiday this year. We travelled from Ireland to New Orleans and went on a roadtrip to Bandera Texas and we were not disappointed. We stayed for two nights in Twin Elm and enjoyed every second of it. The two wranglers, Mike and Justin went out of their way to make our stay memorable. We got up at 7.00am each morning to watch the horses getting fed and watch the wranglers saddling the horses for our horseriding sessions. They took us on lovely trails and the wranglers made sure we had the best time. They brought us down to the river for tubing and lit us campfires and played games by the fire at night. The food was excellent and the wranglers sat and ate with us and we all shared lots of stories. We really enjoyed the hayride and went to the rodeo, which was really a different experience for us. The swimming pool is a real bonus and we often just lay there listening to the soothing lilt of the country music playing. At night we went to the Common Room, where we could sit together and watch TV or play snooker or ice hockey or other games that were available and it was a great social ground before heading off to bed. The local town of Bandera is not to be missed either and we were made to feel so welcome by everybody in the shops and bars. Twin Elm is priviliged to have two amazing wranglers in Justin and Mike as they made us feel so welcome. We would definitely recommend Twin Elm for anybody looking for a ranch holiday in Texas.

The entire crew from receptionist to rangers made us feel welcome and at ease. Their expertise, friendly manner and desire to provide us with the greatest true Texas style ranch experience yet, coupled with the awesome price( abt half of what the other local ranches were charging for a day trip) made one memorable trip! Thanks y'all at Twin Elm! From the Jersey girls (august 7)
