“Filled with history...”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

This is one of the first places to stop in Tennessee when researching the "Trail of Tears" and the relations with the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation. The park is lovely and the Museum staff and the Park Rangers are very knowledgeable and helpful. Lots of information about life on a sometimes hostile frontier. Take lots of pictures!

“Fun way to learn some history!”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

Great place to let the kids run off some steam. Beautiful location right on Tellico Lake. Certain times of the year, they hold reinactment weekends.

“A very well done restoration/recreation”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

They flooded the lake and flooded the original site of the fort. Maybe it was out of guilt, but they did a great job of recreating the fort. The barracks are completely furnished and well built. Lots of interesting details. The views across the lake are nice as the trees begin to change.

“History that's fun”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

This is a re-creation of an old English fort. The park ranger is a fun and informative guy, so it's worth a visit anytime; but the best times to visit are when the re-inactors are there. Take your children or grandchildren to witness troops marching, cannon and musket fire, meal preparation, and an infirmary from the period.
