... because if you go any earlier, you'll be ruined for the rest of the trip. Not because St. Kitts doesn't have other great restaurants ... but the Spice Mill is a cut above. On a scale of one to five stars, it deserves seven.
We visited the Spice Mill on a rainy Friday evening. The restaurant is beautiful -- decor that is both trendy and true to the islands. Our server, Kwame, was terrific -- knowledgeable about the menu, attentive without being overbearing, and fun. The view (of neighboring Kitts) is hard to beat.
And then there's the food. Spice Mill doesn't have a fixed menu; it offers a selection of entrees based on the available fresh ingredients and the chef's whimsy. My wife had the catch of the day, wahoo with pickled cabbage and coconut rice. Three days later, she is still raving about it. I ordered the seafood risotto, and it was truly one of the best dishes I've ever eaten. The food is beautifully plated and elegantly presented -- a meal for the eyes as well as the palate.
If you visit St. Kitts, do yourself a favor and make the trek to the southeastern tip of the island to visit Spice Mill.
