During our March stay at Blackberry Farm, we had the opportunity to stop into the Apple Valley Country Store, right on Hwy 321 (Lamar Alexander Pkwy) in tiny Townsend, TN.

This was likely our 10th visit, though we missed getting into Townsend on our last two stays at Blackberry Farm.

Now, the Apple Valley Country Store is more than just a store, though it is complete in most respects. It’s a bit of a café, a general store, but also both a slice of Americana, and a little bit of a museum. I wonder how many folk miss all of the aspects, just stopping in for the fudge, or maybe a quick bite, or some provisions for their cabin?

We spent quite a bit of time looking at everything, as we always do, and could have spent even more, as they seem to have expanded, since our last visit. Though there IS a “visitors center” in Townsend, Apple Valley also serves that function too, with good local advice.

We love just talking with the folk at the store, and recognized two, with whom we had interacted in the past.

Though Blackberry Farm has its own line of jams, we walked out with two jars, to pack them into our luggage, as we headed to TYS Airport.

Always a nice stop, and this was no exception.

Thanks for visiting us while you were in the area. If you like Blackberry Farm, you should dine with us at the Appalachian Bistro at the top of the hill inside Dancing Bear Lodge. They even serve Blackberry Farm beers.

This is a fun place to find lots of goodies from gifts to jam. Be sure to check it out when you are in the area. Café looks good too.

We stopped here for a drink and bathroom break after visiting Cades Cove. It was very cute and the employees were very helpful. The fried apple pies were the best!! And the apple cider was very good!

We have been to this store in the past and enjoyed the coffe and fudge and always look forward to it, however this trip we have gone out of our way twice to go there and its been closed. And not at crazy times either, a Sunday afternoon and Monday late afternoon. Really? Peak season? And as of 5 minutes ago they dont even have their hours posted out front. Im not going an hour out of my way again, I will find another fudge and coffee shop. Peace out Apple Valley ✌
