We enjoyed 3 nights at the Richmont Inn (bed and breakfast) in Townsend TN. We wanted to go to the Smokies, and to see Cades Cove. We had read that staying in Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg would involve a lot of busy tourist areas, and that Townsend was very quiet.

We found the Richmont Inn to be very relaxing for our stay. They are located about half mile from a golf course, which is open to the public. We are not golfers, but this course would be convenient for those wanting to play. This was just what we needed, a quiet getaway. We stayed in the main lodge, but we also walked down to see the "chalet rooms". This is a separate building that has 4 bedrooms (I think), and that building also has a "commons room" with a beautiful view. That chalet would be a great place for a family that needed those rooms, maybe to put the kids to bed....and then the adults could stay up and visit or play cards in that commons room.
We recommend this place.

The scenery and views are indeed beautiful, the property is interesting and breakfast and dessert are ok but this inn is in need of major TLC. When reaching for a plug behind a nightstand we discovered dust and dirt that appeared to have been there quite some time. Both bed and bath linens need to be replaced; magazines in bedside drawer were years old -none would be better. Upon checkout, we were told they do not accept credit cards and would need a check or cash, despite their website's statement to the contrary. Jim and Susan are a lovely couple and I would hope they find a way to bring the property up to date and maximize its potential.

First of all, I must say that the owners are delightful. They are helpful with everything from restaurants to hiking trails. We stayed in the Lucy Morgan room and it was very spacious with a private porch overlooking the very busy (doves, goldfinches, tufted titmouses, cardinals, wood peckers, and a few more) birdfeeder and the long view was beautiful. The bed was very comfortable.

A wonderful breakfast is served every morning and they also serve delicious dessert each evening.

There are no televisions which was very nice. I liked the quiet and listening to the birds. Bring a good book!

Room Tip: Get one of the rooms with a spa tub. It came in very handy after a long hike!

My friend and I stayed at the Richmont Inn for her birthday. Of course it would be a wonderful romantic place for couples, but it was also great for a girls weekend away. Get away from the TV and take in the amazing views, watch the birds, experience the delicious breakfasts and evening desserts. Most people check out nearby "Cades Cove" but since we had already been there, we asked our host Jim to recommend a short hike. He sent us to a nearby area (easy for him, not so much for us couch potatoes!) but a beautiful falls rewarded us at the end of the 1 or 2 mile climb. The rooms are named for historical people and beautifully decorated accordingly. There is a scrapbook in the common area with pictures of the building being built that is fascinating. They offer a 4 course fondue with or without a wine pairing, but I highly recommend the pairing. If you have never experienced a pairing of food and wine, this will spoil you! It was perfection! Since I love dogs, I asked for a visit with the Westies and was introduced to "Andrew", who was all champion and he knew it! What a cool dude!!! When Jim and Susan found out I had to leave early on Sunday and would miss breakfast they fixed me a breakfast to go that was really nice to have on my drive back home. I can't say enough good things about the Townsend area, this B&B and the wonderfully kind people who run it.

Room Tip: We had the Lucy Morgan room which had a wonderful view but I would love to come back and stay in the...

My husband and I stayed and the Nancty Ward Suite, very comfortable and cozy. Delicious breakfast, very caring staff. Candelight dessert every night was amazing. We liked the fact that the inn is close to the Smokey Mountains but not too close to be crowded. While there,we visited Glatinburg and we were pleased to have made the decision of staying away from it. Yes, there are plenty of restaurants and entertainment which there aren't in Townsed but if you are looking for nature and peace go to Townsend and stay at the Richmont Inn.

My wife and I were finally able to visit this peaceful Inn near Townsend TN. We first saw the Inn almost 20 years ago and treated my in-laws to a stay. They loved it and so did we. Jim and his wife have appointed the rooms to commemorate various individuals. Each room is unique. The Kahlua creme brulee evening desert is wonderful. They tailored the breakfast to fit our gluten-free need, and it was delicious. Relaxing, peaceful, perfect couples get away Inn!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Sequoyah room on the top floor, complete with wood burning fireplace!

Save the money and treat yourself to an amazing weekend or week night stay at the Richmont. We absolutely love this little gem and we are hesitant to actually tell friends and family about it because we don't want it to be crowded when we come back. Mr. Jim is about the nicest man and friendliest host we have ever had. The inn is adorable and cozy and tucked in the woods. We loved the breakfast, we actually compare all other breakfast that we eat to the Richmont. They have their own bacon recipe and the call it the Richmont bacon, and it is manna from Heaven. The lovely grounds and all the wild birds and animals are such a treat. The Lucy Morgan room is perfect for two people to really enjoy a peaceful stay in a comfortable bed. Give Mr. JIm a hug, trust me, he is worth it.

Room Tip: Almost all rooms have a private balcony, but the Lucy Morgan room has the best view!
