This restaurant in Townsend is always open. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and seasonally they feature their wonderful breakfast, salad and dinner bar. The food and service is always great and prices family-friendly. The local staff are so nice and fun to chat with. They do a great chicken dinner pic-nick lunch.

We stayed in Townsend last year at Easter and dined at their restaurant for lunch. What a feast! I hear that they take reservations from as far away as Maryville and Knoxville for Easter dinner. It's down-home, Southern cooking at its best.

We went to Carriage House in that odd interval between lunch and dinner, around 4:00. We are wary of the buffet at any restaurant at such an hour, so we ordered off the menu. Cheeseburgers were a bit dry and overdone, and the fried shrimp had a thick and crunchy breading that overshadowed the shrimp itself. Vegetables were similarly acceptable, but unremarkable. Not quite good enough to justify the $7 pricetag for a burger, or $13 for the shrimp, and not good enough to keep us coming back.

We have eaten at the Carriage house for years, used to camp at Tremont Hills and go have Breakfast at Carriage House. Spent this weekend in Townsend, 8-1-10, and had lunch at the Carriage House and the Food Bar hasn't changed, still GREAT!! Wonderful fried chicken, salad bar, deserts. We have never been disappointed. When in Townsend, try this great place.

The buffet is very good southern cooking. The staff is very friendly. A little pricey though.

We ate here for a lunch buffet and truly enjoyed the selections. Our waiter was 5 stars all the way. He seemed to know what we needed almost before we did! There was a good selection of fresh vegetables on the lunch buffet along with the best fried fish in Townsend with tartar sauce that tasted homemade. We decided to go back for breakfast a few days later. GLAD we did. Wonderful fresh fruit and fluffy pancakes along with the usual grits, gravy , eggs and breakfast meats. They even had country ham if you enjoy that. Plus we had the same wonderful waiter!
