“Now that's some good BBQ”
Reviewed June 13, 2014

Stopped in after the man at the Jeep store suggested it to us. He was right, that was some good BBG. Nice friendly wait staff also. The BBQ and hushpuppies were great and they gave you a big Sweet Tea in a Mason Jar. Just right. The backed beans were a little spicy, but that's just me. Anyone looking for some good BBQ should stop in and try it out. (Times vary during off season, so call ahead)(865-448-6881)

“Good food”
Reviewed June 13, 2014 via mobile

The food was good, nothing was outstanding though. The pulled pork was cooked very good. The sauce wasn't the best, not bad, just not great. It was an ok meal. I probably won't eat there again, but only because there are a lot of BBQ places to eat at here.

“Best BBQ”
Reviewed June 10, 2014

Wow! We stopped here off a recommendation of some of the salespeople at Cade's Cove winery and it was WELL worth it! I had the Big Chick (BBQ smoked chicken with mild sauce) and it was the best chicken I've had...and no, this wasn't the first BBQ I've had ;). My fiance had the ribs which were good and the pulled pork was fantastic. Also had fried green tomatoes and the best hush puppies we've ever had with house mustard. The lemonade, coleslaw, and cobbler wasn't outstanding, but the cinnamon ice cream was well worth the stop! Delicious!

“Good Local Food”
Reviewed June 9, 2014

Taking Harley motorcycle ride through Townsend with spouse and asked a local business where was good place to eat. He suggested Smokin Joes. Friendly host and waitress, good pork sandwich and mild sauce, hushpuppies, and baked beans. Reasonably priced and even stayed for the pecan cobbler!

“Yummiest BBQ in the Smoky Mountains”
Reviewed June 5, 2014

Smokin' Joe's is a great mom and pop restaurant that offers excellent food, a very pleasant ambience, and great prices. Their BBQ pit is situated in front of the restaurant, so when you are driving through Townsend towards Great Smoky Mountains National Park, you can't help but pick up the aroma of BBQ on the grill. Their hush puppies are an absolute must. We recommend ordering them as an appetizer and sharing with others at the table. You will want to order at least 2 sides with your sandwich because they are the tastiest sides you will find in any restaurant in the South. I always order the baked beans and potato salad. There is no doubt the hush puppies are the best you will find anywhere. Smokin' Joe's is a must stop on your travels to the Smoky Mountains. The service is somewhat slow but well worth the wait.
