Our menu consists of great burgers, luscious chicken and fish sandwiches, Cajun Gumbo, Shrimp and Crawfish Etouffee, Po'Boys, Shrimp boil and much more! All made from scratch, we don't even have a can opener in the building! We keep it mild so everyone can enjoy the great flavors but we can spice it up for those that want to work up a sweat!

The food was first rate, my wife had the crawfish Etouffee and I had the crawfish poor boy sandwich our food was fresh and delicious, the wait staff was friendly even on a very busy Saturday evening. The band was great and they interacted with the crowd and made everyone feel at home. If you in Townsend TN you owe it to yourself to enjoy a great evening with wonderful food, Danny and Kay try their best to make sure your having a good time and enjoy your meal. We look forward to returning in the future....

“Okay”
Reviewed June 18, 2013

My husband and I frequently visit Townsend from Indianapolis, as he has family in Townsend. We have some amazing cajun restaurants in Indy, so we were excited to try Danny Kay's. The atmosphere is great, riverside indoor and outdoor enclosed patio dining. It was humid so we ate inside. Found a few ants on our table, yuck. We immediately noticed that service was kind of strange. The owner and two other ladies waited on us simultaneously which seemed unorganized and confusing, and drinks went unfilled the entire meal. We ordered the fried pickles appetizer which just tasted like they were fried in Kentucky Fried Colonel mix that you buy from the store - that is what I use to deep fry veggies, too. My husband ordered the shrimp po' boy and I got the crawfish etouffee. We both liked our dishes, but felt like it wasn't as flavorful as you'd expect and what we have experienced in the same dishes at other cajun places. Also, my husband's sandwich was a little small and didn't come with any sides, and the rice in my etouffee was not done and still a little crunchy. For $40 after tip, we will skip this and eat somewhere else in town.

“Not worth the wait.”
Reviewed June 16, 2013

Today was our second visit to Danny Kay's and probably our last. Our first visit was on a weekday and although only one table was seated when we arrived, we waited a long time for 2 hamburgers. We thought maybe they had kitchen help problems and it was an unusual wait. Today, we waited close to an hour for 2 hamburgers. They apologized for our wait--a group of 12 was in front of us--6 of the 12 were children--how hard can that be? During our hour we saw 2 other tables receive their food and that was all. We love sitting outside by the
river and watching the ducks and floaters go by. However, that does not make the wait
worth it. We know it isn't a "fast food" business but it takes the slow side of the Smokies too close to heart.

“Extremely long wait just for a menu..drinks...flatware...napkins and food. Need more waitstaff!”
Reviewed June 15, 2013

After being seated promptly, we waited for about 20 minutes for drinks. The waitress came back 10 minutes later and asked for our order and we told her we haven't seen the menu yet. That happened to many others while we were waiting. 10 more minutes the waitress came back for our order. Waited for food about 25 minutes. Received our food but no flatware or napkins. We went to find own flatware. The food was pretty good but you will wait an extremely long time for it. We watched several people leave or get frustrated during our time there. Not really worth it. If they had more wait staff it may help.

“Nice addition to Townsend.”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

We always like to try something new on our visits to Townsend and Danny Kay's did not disappoint. We were there on a rainy Wednesday evening (June 5). The hostess sat us by a river view window and immediately took our drink order. Sitting by the window was relaxing watching the lazy river roll by. The waitress came with our drinks and took our order. There was a bit of a wait but we were not in a hurry, after all, we are on vacation. My husband had the ribeye which was cooked to perfection and I had the blackened white fish with the creamy coleslaw....delicious! Food arrived at table hot, our waitress was very attentive and there was live music (not too loud). For desert, we tried the bananas foster which was a nice ending to our wonderful meal! We will be back!
