There are several newer restaurants in the Townsend area, and this is one of the better ones. Situated on the scenic banks of the Little River, Danny Kays offers a variety of entrees and sandwiches, which include Cajun-style dishes such as po boy sandwiches and gumbo. We had an appetizer order of fried green tomatoes, which were battered and nicely crisp and accompanied by a mildly spicy dipping sauce. We each had a po boy sandwich on French bread -- one crawfish and one shrimp. The sandwiches were good but not outstanding, and they would have benefited from the dipping sauce for the fried green tomatoes. We went around 6:30 on Saturday night, and the indoor seating area was quickly packed. It was too rainy and cold to sit outside. The kitchen was slow, so the service -- though very pleasant and friendly -- was slow. The live music, a mix of Jimmy Buffet and blue grass, was excellent. Wish I had ordered the shrimp and grits.
