“Cozy Retreat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 31, 2010

Highland Manor is a cozy place to stay in an area that requires that you slow down and enjoy. The rooms were very comfortable, staff is great, view of the mountains is great [esp. for viewing the mountain mists after a storm], convenient to eateries, entertainment, and most importantly the Smokies and Cades Cove. I will be going back in the Fall and am most looking forward to the place and the people, who are very friendly and helpful.

We have been returning to the Highland Manor for 14 years, and have been there in every season. Whatever the season or the weather, the Inn feels like home. This year, we looked for wildflowers and enjoyed the welcome of the local folks. We are already planning our next visit.

Wonderful place to stay, views were great & plenty of places to eat you could walk to. Everyone there really made you feel at home.

Would recommend this hotel to anyone with or without children.

We have been vacationing in Townsend for 20 years, but never stayed at Highland Manor Inn. The online reviews gave Highland Manor a very favorable rating, and we were not disappointed. From the moment we walked in the office, until the time we left, we were treated with hospitality and warmth and were really made to feel at home. We were very pleased that all the rooms were walk-in level, which made it so convenient for unloading. The rooms were well-appointed, very clean, and recently remodeled. There were refrigerators, microwaves and a coffee pot if you asked for it. The beds were incredibly comfortable, which meant so much to us. There were comfy sitting chairs in the room and a very nice private balcony with an excellent view of the cove. All the furnishings were clean, well-maintained and comfortable. The bathroom had a great shower with abundant fluffy linens and plenty of bath soaps. Everything worked well. Their grounds were very clean and maintained and pleasantly landscaped. We were very impressed by the continental breakfast that was abundantly available at the appointed times. We selected from several cold and hot cereals, fresh boiled eggs, a great selection of English muffins, bagels, homemade blueberry and cinnamon muffins, orange and apple juices, and gourmet coffees, tea and cider. The front desk attendant could not have been nicer in helping with anything we needed. Our trip was made so enjoyable by this hotel experience. We will definitely go back again!

Friendly welcome & sincere wish to accomodate our every need - this place has thought of everything including a free continental breakfast daily & in our room whirlpool bath.
Owner & receptions desk folks are wonderful with many traveler tips & suggestions.
All you could ask for at a very reasonable rate. Would reccomend Highland to anyone !
We'll be back!

This is a very nice hotel, especially for the money. It is a little older place but has been updated. The staff was VERY friendly and accomadating. But beware of the office hours (doesn't open til 8:00am).
The rooms were large and while not state of the art amenities they had just about everything you could want, small refrig, microwave, hair dryer, etc. Upon check-in, I was told that I was staying amid a certain group here for another reason. I knew the group and while they are volunteers I knew they would be out early. I figured there went my sleep in the early hours. I am a light sleeper and I didn't hear a sound!! Truly amazing! That was worth it there!
Convienient to everything in the Townsend area.
