Description: At Trailhead we focus more on the quality and perfection of our food and service than anything else. Our prices are the same or cheaper than all of our local competitors. Only difference is we try to offer more of a fine dining restaurant experience such as decorating our plates and the table cloths and candle light adds a very lovely touch. For the same price we pamper you with our generous hospitality. Come give us a shot, your Trailhead Steak & Trout House. Steven Haley (General Manager) has had excessive feedback from folks wondering why there was not a TRAILHEAD STEAKHOUSE in other areas, so keep an eye out for a TRAILHEAD STEAKHOUSE coming to a town near YOU!

Did I eat their food? Yes Was it good? More like okay. I had steak medallions that were too stringy and chewy. We thought maybe if we filled up on some bread it would kinda even it all out. How about this? A restaurant that doesn't serve bread. She said their bread machine broke months ago so they stopped serving bread.Strange thinking but ok...only one server and though we were very early with only one or two other tables being utilized, service seemed slow. On the plus side, the interior was nice, cabinish and clean.

My girlfriend and I almost missed out on a lovely dining experience after reading some less than flattering reviews. Thankfully we tried our luck and had a wonderful meal. We started with an appetizer of fried mushrooms. At 8 dollars it seemed pricey... but it was a full plate of hand beaded perfectly cooked shrooms... then came soup for me (potato chowder) and a salad for my girlfriend. Salad was good and I liked the chowder (my girlfriend was not as impressed with the soup). Our main course was ribeye for me. .. cooked A PERFECT medium and delicious and she had tuna steak. .. ordered it med well and it arrived well done, but still very good. She also got a baked potato and it had only a little butter and when she asked for more they brought honey butter. ... for a baked potato. ..odd. Our other side was green beans. .. Pretty good. I had dessert, the Bourbon Pecan pie and a cup of coffee. ... it was incredible even after stuffing myself! The service was absolutely amazing! Our server was so nice and polite and helpful (especially with me drinking a ton of their really good sweet tea)! She kept us up with anything we needed and made our dinner even better. The only misses was the fact it is ala-carte and that adds to cost. .. but still not bad. As for the honey butter on a baked potato. .. she brought us another one to replace it. Overall an excellent dining experience! For two people, with two entrees, four sides, sweet tea, a beer, coffee, appetizer and dessert was 63 dollars before tip. Highly recommend.

We were also there the night the previous reviewer was complaining about. Yes they were busy but our server was great. She was very friendly and had a great attitude. She was timely to our needs and by far one of the most friendly servers we have had through our whole trip. Our food was the best meal we have had in TN. Cooked precisely the way we wanted it. Bottom line we will be visiting this place everytime we visist TN. Keep up the great work!

Visited during January, which is the slow season for Townsend. Thus I understand why the restaurant may have limited service attendants working but this aspect of the evening really challenged the entire dining experience. In rating this place below average, I give them four stars for the food and 1 stars for the service. Clearly the two staff on duty this Friday evening were challenged as they did the greeting, seating, service and busting the tables.
The restaurant is housed in a cedar rough cut lumber siding and it is attractive. The restaurant has seating for about 60 patrons. There is a recently added seating/waiting area that serves as the entrance. The tables mainly seat 4 and can be arranged together for larger groups.
During our Friday evening visit there were about 30 people in the restaurant. Good venue.
Again, the service was slow due to only two staff persons.
The food was average to good. The sides are average and did not appear to be made onsite. The ribeye steak and chicken items were really prepared well and good. No bread as the oven was down during our visit.
The understandable slow service not withstanding, the most concerning event was the arrival of family members to the staff (or maybe the owners). They were seated like everyone else but walked freely about the kitchen and service areas of the restaurant. These areas are both clearly separate work areas.
The cost of the meal a little high for Townsend. The $20 Ribeye special is a very good deal as the limited menu is ala carte otherwise.
A rating of average is taking into consideration the January slow season and that only two staff persons were present during the evening meal hours on a Friday. Should you not give them the benefit of the doubt, then this is a two star poor rating at best. We will consider giving it another visit.

Trailhead is now under new management, no longer a la carte! Every entree includes two side and we have now changed the name from the previous owners from Trailhead Steakhouse to Trailhead Steak & Trout House! Hopefully we will have the opportunity to persuade you differently than the previous owners. Our menu offers a 6 oz sirloin w/ two sides for only 11.95. We also have FRESH Rainbow Trout which includes two sides for the low price of 14.95 Thank you!

Food was good. Pricey but good. What I did NOT like was even with food cosing $22-$35, they charged $3 for people to split a meal, since it cost money to wash an extra plate, knife, fork spoon and napkin. How Petty! I could maybe understand that with cheaper prices, but really, $3 because I retired couple, or young couple on honeymoon want to cut back on the cost and split the meal and you will charge for the napkin plate and silverware?
