Loved both the picadillo and Cuban sandwiches. Service was on the mark. Owners might consider switching the type of plastic cups they use for beverages (they crack easily, and the contents head south).

Delilah, thank you for your review and for your very valuable input. We did some research and found that the supplier had made a small change without our knowledge... to the brand of plastic cups that we had been using. After your mishap and review, we did in fact complained to the supplier and having accepted his apology, we are awaiting receipt of new cups which will be stronger in the weight of the plastic used in their design. Although we are not certain as to if this was a "one time" event, we made the decision and are very thankful to you for having brought this issue to our attention. Once again, please accept both our apology and thanks for putting up with this deficiency...but more importantly for taking the time to care and make the much needed suggestion! Look forward to your next visit!

After reading the other reviews, there is not much more to add. This is one of the best restaurants on either side of the Smokies. If you are staying in Gatlinburg, it's well worth the trip to Townsend for Lil' Cuban Cafe alone.. By the way, the leftovers never made it through the night.. Our dinner and visit with the owner was so enjoyable that it made up for some earlier disappointments on our trip. It was one of the highlights of our vacation which was spent in both TN and NC.

From the gracious service to the exceptional cuisine, this is one hell of a place! Shaded outside seating made the phenominal cuban sandwiches seem even better than I'd imagined. Juicy, succulent pork, and ham, smothered with warm melting cheese and a crispy pickle.....Oooooh. Life is good here.

Visited here with my sister while enjoying the autumn colors in the mountains and the shops at Trillium Cove, and glad we did! The traditional Cuban sandwich was enough for 2, and delicious! Great fun watching the food arrive via dumbwaiter from the upstairs kitchen! I can also highly recommend the strong Cuban coffee! The owners are helpful and very friendly. Great to find something besides Subway and Wendy's in such a small town!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with all of us! We are of course thrilled that you and your sister enjoyed your dining experience with us....it truly is about you not us!
That dumbwaiter is not just fun to watch, but it truly is a life saver for the knees and lower back of not so young people like yours truly.... a little bit of island engineering! Please come back and see us again real soon!

My family and I ate here on Tuesday, October 16 for lunch. I had read the great reviews on TripAdvisor and wanted to extend our vacation one day so we could drive out to Townsend and experience this place. - It turned out to be one of the highlights of our vacation, and our favorite restaurant on this vacation! All four of us had the Cuban, which was an incredibly good sandwich. We loved the selection of Cuban sodas, and we loved the desserts - we had the Sweetie (our son doesn't even like dessert, and he said this was even better than the sandwich!) and we also had the S'morz. The owner and waitress were extremely hospitable. The building is in a cute setting, little log cottage in a mountain setting. A table of rangers sat next to us, that was fun, too. This is not a zoom in, zoom out place - this is an EXPERIENCE of Cuban cuisine and culture. We will be back next time we visit the Smokies next year. Vicky and family, from Kokomo, Indiana

Vicky, what a blessing for us to be given the opportunity to serve you and your beautiful family; it was truly an honor for us! That Cuban sandwich is truly a great sandwich, and we take a lot of pride in its preparation....we are so glad that it met your expectations. By the way, thank you for extending your vacation that extra day to visit us....wow! We look forward to you and your family's return....and for having chosen to spend your valuable time with us! Until next time......
