When my sister and I attend the ChristyFest in Townsend, the Gateway Inn is our go to place to stay. It is always so clean, the beds comfortable, the rooms quite and the snacks a treat. The Inn is located close to Cades Cove and there are several excellent restaurants nearby. What amazes us is our inability to hear the motorcycles when they leave in the morning. There are always several friendly motorcycle riders that stay when we have stayed and the walls are so thick you do not hear the neighbors toilet flushing, showers running, or motorcycles leaving in the morning. What you can hear is the sound of water running over the dam in the Little River across the road as you sit in the rockers on the porch in the morning, drinking a cup of coffee.

Room Tip: We have stayed in 4 different rooms and enjoyed them all.

This motel was convenient to the Cades Cove area of the Smoky Mountains National Park. It was clean and comfortable with several restaurants nearby. A basket of snacks and coffee packets was refreshed each day.

My husband and I stayed in this family run inn on May 17th. Rooms were clean and sheets were soft. The rockers on the front were a nice touch. Even being close to the highway it was quite at night. What really made the place great was the lady who worked there. She was friendly and helpful and made us and our little dog feel very welcome. We will be back to stay again.

My husband and I stayed 2 nights recently with our dog in Cottage #1. Although this is an older motel, the cottage was recently remodeled with hardwood floors and the works. The cottage was supremely clean and the property is well maintained. We were treated to a snack basket upon arrival which was restocked each day. The only thing to make the stay nicer would be in the motel was on the river side of the street; but that is a minor item to us.

This is a great family owned small motel in beautiful Townsend. So close to the Smokies and Gatlinburg but no rat race, traffic or crowds. We love the rockers by our door and the new fire pit. Will be back again next year for sure.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the road give room to rock in the rockers and enjoy coffee
