This was my and my wife's third stay at the Townsend Gateway Inn. We needed a weekend getaway to the Smokies and we didn't even think of any other place. Colleen put us in a king room. We were able to check in early like we've done before. Our goodie basket wasn't in our room when we arrived but she took care of that right away. Mike was there to greet us as usual. He started a fire in the outdoor fire pit so we could sit and get to know the other guests. You just can't go anywhere else and be remembered for being there before and be treated like family. We plan to go back in September.

Room Tip: All rooms are clean and if you need anything, just ask.

We stayed at the Townsend Gateway Inn for four nights this past week and enjoyed everything about our stay. We arrived a bit early on Monday afternoon, but our room was ready and waiting for us. I had seen pictures posted by others and our room (room #5) did not disappoint. The room was very clean, spacious and well appointed. Even though the building itself is older, everything in our room was new and updated. The beds were comfortable and the heat worked nicely on the cool nights. I only wish the weather was warmer during our stay so we could have enjoyed the rocking chairs outside our door each morning while drinking coffee. My two boys where thrilled with the snack basket and looked forward to seeing what was in it each day when we returned after spending time in the park. If you are looking for a place to stay while in Townsend, look no further. The Townsend Gateway Inn is a true gem in this beautiful little valley.

We traveled right after Christmas to stay at the Inn. We stayed in one of the cottages with our three children. It was perfect. My children did not want to leave the "cute house." The owners were fantastic. A complimentary snack basket was provided and replenished daily. They kept my children stocked on chocolate muffing and gummy treats! It was such a quiet, peaceful vacation. The cottage had been remodeld on the inside. It had beautiful wood floors and the bathroom had a beautifilly tiled shower. My children loved the automatic soap dispensers. :)
If you are looking for a quiet getaway, you will not be disappointed. We did visit all of the tourist traps, but we loved coming back to the peaceful side of the Smokies. We will be back!!! We are already planning for a summer trip next time to make good use of the river tubing across the street!

We stayed this past Easter weekend. As reviews stated, it was very clean and well kept. We enjoyed the basket of goodies given us each day. We also took advantage of the refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. The rockers with a view of the river and mountains across the road was just what I needed. The location to Cades Cove and the Smokies was excellent. The motel operators (Gerrard family) were very friendly and made our stay enjoyable. The one thing I'd change is having straight parking spaces in front of the rooms instead of slanted due to the tightness when the lot is full. Overall, I recommend this place and would stay there again.

quiet, clean, friendly without being intrusive, within budget and in every way perfect. Nice view of the spillway across the road. We were tired after a long day and called ahead. They said to just use the phone at the office when we arrrived and they would be right down. We planned only one night and stayed two. Highly recommend.

We usually will backpack (sleep outdoors) while visiting the Smokies except in cold weather. We decided to stay at this motel after other positive reviews with Trip Advisor for a day hike to Spence Field. We were not disappointed. Service was friendly and professional. We were greeted by the owner who subsequently provided us with a personalized basket of goodies - coffee, hot chocolate, bedtime snacks, and muffins for breakfast. Especially liked how clean the room was - and non-carpeted floors were a nice perk. Even though colder than carpeted floors (as expected), this gave the rooms a cleaner look and feel. Will definitely plan to stay here again when not sleeping outdoors. Only downside for a return travel (with grandchildren) would be no play equipment at this motel but did notice next door.
