We just got back from our stay in Townsend.. We stayed in a cottage at Gateway it was nice, great staff, clean room, nice bath that had been up-dated.. Bed was HARD !! Towels were worn and stiff.. We knew when we went it was not a 5 star so we got what we expected.. It is fine for a quick trip to the MTNS..

We love to vacation in the mountains, but this is the first time we have actually stayed in Townsend. This will be my place to stay from now on. My mother and I spent the week of July 29-August 5 at the Gateway Inn, and I have never stayed in a motel where the service was any better. The owners and staff were extremely nice and willing to do whatever they could to make our stay comfortable, from taking our letters to the post office to offering to help with my mother's wheelchair. We were also impressed with the cleanliness of our bedroom and bathroom. You are withing walking distance of several restaurants; and even though you are near the road, it is very quiet and peaceful. I look forward to our next trip.

Room Tip: Room 12 is near the ramp to the porch and has hand rails in the bathtub. Two double beds give a little more room to maneuver than two queens would.

I stayed at the Townsend Gateway Inn August 7 - 10. What a great place to stay and relax. I stayed in a cottage, very well appointed and very clean. A snack basket was refilled everyday with snacks and coffee for the next morning. The bathroom was very clean as was the bedroom. A very soft queen bed with extra pillows. There was a big screen HD TV to watch with direct TV, also the cottage had WI-FI.

Room Tip: If you need a small kitchen grab a cottage, great for the price!

We only stayed one night but it felt like we were in a B&B. We have to echo the positive sentiments of previous reviewers who have enjoyed their stay here. The hardwood floors and tile work in bath/vanity areas blew us away. Did not expect these lovely appointments. Beds were comfortable and room super clean and quiet. The owners are friendly and helpful including Kylie (their dog). Although they do not have a traditional breakfast, they do have a wonderful assortment of goodies in a welcome basket including muffins for breakfast. Of course, coffee or tea is available in the rooms along with a refrigerator and microwave. If you love tubing, Townsend it the place and the Townsend Gateway Inn is the place to stay.

Pete was sweet, comfy rooms were quite neat! Loved the welcome basket, if you want something you just ask it! Would definitely go back there! Close to everything, Cades Cove accessible. Wish I could have gone tubing across the street!
