Free admission, so you can't beat that. See a history of the logging companies and the local area through photographs and items on the property such as a train. A nice stop for families.

If you are into trains it is okay but don't expect much. Very small. But okay for the train buffs. Grass was a little overgrown.

After a big lunch we were looking for somewhere to walk off a few calories. This free museum fit the bill and was close by.

Kids seemed to be enjoying the vintage steam locomotive and adults were enjoying browsing the photos and write-ups about the railroad and lumber history of the Townsend area.

And, it was free.

It's a small place with a gift shop and a few rooms with some really neat historical stuff about the local railroads, but it's a great place to take a picture of your kids. They have an old portable steam engine, a full sized engine and a water tower that you can take pics in front of...... my son and I were looking for an hour to kill while his sister rode horses and this was perfect. Plus, it is free......they have a donation box to help keep the place going but you arent pressured in any way

There's a lot of history here. Something fun to do with the whole family. Most of it is outside but they do have a gift shop and the old post office on site.
