“Fantastic Historical Center”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

This Center is one of the most informative historical centers I've ever visited...The staff is wonderful and the information was very interesting. It tells of the past and almost forgotten heritage of the area and one feels like actually being "there"...

“Okay Little Museum”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

The Heritage Center is a nice little museum for anyone interested in the history of life in the Smoky Mountains. The museum has some preserved structures outside that form a little "village" of sorts and provide a window into old mountain life. The indoor museum is small and takes a "mile wide and an inch deep" approach. There are some neat things to see, but don't expect to delve too deeply into any aspect of the history of the Smoky Mountains. I found it somewhat odd that one of the central displays is a model of the Titanic and newspaper clippings about the sinking. A quick breeze through could easily be done in less than an hour. Even the most intrigued person will be hard pressed to spend much more than 2 hours.

“A Step Back in Time”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

The Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center is very fittingly nestled in the foothills of the Smokies. The museum diplicks everyday life in these mountains at the turn of the century, and offers educational lectures on a variety of subjects. A very relaxing tour!

“What a surprise to find several preserved log structures out back!”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

Chilly misty day and decided to visit Wonderful history presentation with some very unique gifts in the gift shop. The biggest surprise was the preserved barns, homes, church, and necessary room out back. Don't drive past without stopping and enjoying some of the most unique presentations I have ever seen.
