Catch a concert in the amphitheater (bring a chair, though). Beautiful sunsets.

This place is so much nicer than the crowds in caves cove.

They had nice Indian displays and all sorts of stuff the people who lived in the park had on display. Much nicer than anything in the park.

They are closed 1 day a week i forget which day so you may want to call them before driving here.

On our recent trip to Tenn, Mom and I decided to just ride the beautiful country. We stayed in Sevierville and took 411 toward Maryville then looped back on 321 (Wears Valley Road). We love the rural settings and the small towns as opposed to the big cities.
In Townsend is a small museum, The Great Smokey Mountain Heritage Center. It opened a couple of years ago and it is well worth the trip. (There is a small fee.) There was some construction going on, but it didn't interfere with our visit.

Inside are artifacts from construction and archaeological digs in the area. The history goes back many years from Native Americans to the early settlers.

Outside are several buildings. The cabins are furnished and not roped off. You can sit at the table or on on the bed. Slightly similar to the building at Cades Cove, only furnished.

Follow the link below to visit the website and if you're in the neighborhood, (or even close), and you enjoy viewing a little history, make this one of your stops. It is well worth it!
