We love to tour caves and this one was interesting to walk through. We went on the basic tour, not the wild tour, though we would love to do so someday. The lake is fairly interesting, but everything else in the cave is fairly common in caves. However, what makes it so unique is the history lesson. So interesting!! Also, our tour guide, Shelby, was fantastic. Friendly, funny, full of jokes, but knew her stuff too. Thanks!

Must see! The only regret I have is not conditioning myself prior to the trip...Everybody should come here at least once (that's enough) in their life! If you sit at a desk job 40n hours a week, start preparing for the long climb up at least 3 months in advance. That way, you know for sure your heart is not going to explode when you get to the last rest stop. There is a lot of interesting history & stories and going on the lake is super cool!

I think this a great cave for all of the unusual groups that have used it over the centuries from moonshiners to Civil War soldiers to area Indian tribes - all having left their mark on the cave. The underground lake is the second largest in the world - which I find fascinating. Our tour guide was entertaining and knowledgeable. The price was fairly typical of other cave tours we've taken. If you have the time, there are many options beyond the standard tour which lasted about 90 min. We did the first tour of the day and it was great to not have lots of groups in the cave at the same time.

Visited on drive between Knoxville and Chattanooga to break up the trip.
Interesting caves with lake at bottom, that you go out on, on a boat.

Went with the grandkids while visiting on their spring break. They had been to Mammoth Cave, but wanted to see what other caves look like. Shelby was our guide, and she held everyone's attention with information you might expect in a cave, and historical facts about the cave. The tour itself was about an hour; midway through the group stopped for a moment before seeing Crystal Falls. At this point Shelby told us the next big thing was the boat ride on the Lost Sea. She cautioned the group that it might be problematic coming back after the boat ride if you had issues walking slightly steep inclines for distances. I could have made it, but I decided to sit out this part of the tour and forgo the boat ride. Would we do the tour again? Really enjoyed it so probably yes.
