We had dinner with 6 friends and had a great evening. Magnificent view on the terrace. Food was excellent, civet de canard was perfect! The service was also great! Very much recommended

We were looking for a place to enjoy a typical French Sunday lunch. Driving through the pleasant town of La Douze we spotted the sign for Ferme Auberge and followed it. Just a few hundred meters later we turned into La Colline.

There is a newly built shaded terrace, but unfortunately that was already occupied, but no worry they sat us on a table under the trees which was just as pleasant. (by the way the interior restaurant looked really nice as well).

It transpires that everything served is grown, raised, prepared etc on the Ferme. The entre' salad included an amazing sausage with fois gras. Three of us went for the 'surprise of the day' which was a large and beautifully cooked steak of lamb, one of our party had the Magret which was also excellent.

The lady serving (the daughter of the proprietor) was really pleasant , and the Dad came out and chatted with all of the guests. The price was very reasonable.

Although this is a bit of a drive for us, we will be visiting it again.

Highly recommended.

This farm and back-door style eatery fit a large family of 9 in a rustic, farmhouse room. The restaurant is run by two gentlemen, both speaking only in French. The service was timely, polite and friendly.
There is choice between set menus, each with an appetizer of a vegetable stew, followed by a delectable first plate of foie gras sausage and a prosciutto-like Magret. The main course was also of choice. The Rossini dish was fantastic, with magret topped with crispy fried foie gras. Desert was either a well-portioned cheese platter, or a sweet walnut cake paired with vanilla sauce and a merengue.
Dishes were very generous and price was very reasonable. Great experience to taste the regional cuisine!

Booked online via TripAdvisor.

This Ferme Auberge is a typical Perigordian property which has been lovingly restored. Exposed stone, some original timber and a lot of green oak completes the restoration to a good standard. Views from the small patio outside the building are across the valley and La Douze and are lovely.

The menu is very fois gras-focused, but has a couple of 'bail outs' for those not persuaded to enjoy the regional speciality.

Two fixed menus are offered, €22 and €28, with a €10 menu for children. Pictures of the menu are attached.

The food was well-cooked, simple and full of flavour. A small but more than sufficient selection of wines is available, including the all-important sweet white wine to accompany the fois gras. (Monbazillac was on offer at this restaurant, but if you are in the area and can get to the Monbazillac region, do try a trip to Chateau La Maurigne and try and buy some of their Saussignac sweet white, it is distinctly different to Monbazillac and in my opinion a much nicer taste. It's also less than €10 per bottle, so much better value too!)

If you are not a fan of fois gras then you might find the menu a little restrictive, but then you are in a Ferme Auberge in Perigord so you really ought to expect fois gras!

The host was warm, friendly and even picked up on our conversation that one of our party was having her birthday that day and later dimmed the lights and came out with a small cake and birthday candle!

All in all an excellent place to visit for a good value fois gras experience. Do not expect a 9 course spectacular, just a 3 course excellent meal, full of flavour.

Recommended!

A welcome lunch, off the main road, in a charming little auberge, providing quailty food cooked fresh and locally sourced. Very reasonably priced with attentive service from the lady who served and cooked the meal,
