The Blue Chair Restaurant and Tavern fills several niches in Sewanee's dining scene. To begin with, they serve a tasty breakfast (starting at 7 am on most days), helping you start the day on the right foot. Lunch is also served (my favorite is the pimento sandwich!), and starting at 4, the Tavern opens up.

The Blue Chair is the locus of many events held over the year, including the Community Holiday Tree Lighting, and several free concerts held in Angel Park across the street. It's a very family-friendly place, where mom and dad can enjoy a cool adult beverage while the kids run around.

The restaurant is known for its delicious deserts and other goodies- and you can try them in house or take them home. The menu is straightforward mix of sandwiches, wraps, salads and soups (check for the daily specials!) I'm a big fan of the Green Ribbon wrap. For desert, try some of their ice-cream!

On every other Tuesday during the academic year, test your trivia skills against a mix of students, faculty, staff and community members. Wednesday is By One, Get One beverage night, or BOGO, which, naturally, attracts lots of students from the college.

The Tavern offers several locally produced beers, including those of the Jakalope Brewery in Nashville. The Tavern's traditional pub-style menu offers a selection of fried delicacies (we're in the South, remember!), sandwiches and an award-winning burger (including the best veggie burger on the mountain).

The Tavern is also a great place to watch sports- with several wide-screen televisions so you won't miss any of the action. Try their wings- they're the best in the area!

Also, don't forget to purchase a bag of their signature Out of the Blue Granola. This delicacy is hand-made by the residents of the Blue Monarch Residential Support and Treatment facility. The Blue Monarch offers a haven for women and their children recovering from abuse and addiction. You'll be helping these women get back on their feet, and the granola really is quite tasty!

We have enjoyed the Blue Chair for years, and they did not disappoint with the boxed lunches we ordered for the bride's party for lunch the day of the wedding. Their chicken salad is delicious!

A weird place. You walk in, and the server acts like you are intruding into her personal space. Ho-hum food. Suspect hygiene in the kitchen.... staff sitting on top of the prep counter???
