Completely Casual local travelers out for the day in the Smokies.
I called on Friday to reserve a ride for three 2 Adults and 1 Child and all they required was the time we would like to reserve and our last name. Done. Easy Peasy.
The stables is about 5 miles off the Parkway down a very pretty scenic road. They have done a really great job at making their establishment appear as if it were an old Western town :)
When you check in; all of the adults must sign in and for any minor kids.
After checking in; you are directed to the staging area near the stables where there are rustic style chairs to soak up your environment before the ride.
Another family arrived which made a total of 8 people in our riding group. We were then paired up with our horses and given a quick tutorial on basic handling. Reins and stirrups.
Then we were off over the river and through the woods :0)
The horses pretty much know what they are doing so there isn't much that you have to do. Other the the occasional desire to head off to graze or keeping them from tailgating too much; they stay together.
Halfway through our ride; our guide had us stop and graciously took our pics with our horses using our own cameras. Those little touches makes a big impact with us and especially when planning on more horseback riding excursions in the future.
Thoroughly enjoyed our Valley Ride. The time of day was perfect; the guide was great. The views were wonderful.
