“Nice course, good range, friendly staff. Food is good too.”
Reviewed August 20, 2014

Real nice atmosphere for a dinner. They have breakfast 24/7 and numerous other meals available the rest of the time. We had a chicken salad and chicken and dumplings. Both meals were very reasonably priced and tasted great. I liked the way the locals interacted with the staff; a good sign that the place is good. In fact, this time in the area, I can say all the staff in all the areas we visited were extremely nice and inviting. No snobs here, even after the end of the busy season!! There are plenty of desserts on the menu, we opted to get milkshakes. The chocolate needed to be a bit more stirred as there were numerous chunks of vanilla in it. Anyway, a good meal. I would go back if I am ever in the area again.

Thank you very much for taking the time to post & for dining with us. We work hard to serve all as we want to be served ourselves. You seem to understand us pretty well. However we need to review with someone our milkshake process to be sure yours is mixed better next time. That is not how we want to validate that we hand dip a good, rich ice cream & pour in lots of good Hershey's chocolate syrup all with even better than whole milk. Thank you very much. What you observed about the people of this region is one of the reasons we love living and serving here.

Thanks for posting, we sure appreciate being able to serve you. We will always work hard to serve all like we want to be served ourselves. Those omelets will always be loaded with fresh grilled ingredients, the bacon 14-18 thick cut applewood, serve Swaggerty's sausage and we'll scratch most of our food. Thanks again.

Thank you for taking the time to post. All we can say is we'll always work hard to serve all as we want to be served ourselves, recognizing we are mere mortals & we can from time to time goof up an egg or overcook a burger. ALWAYS let us know, right then & there, we'll do our best to get is like you want it. Thanks for choosing to dine with us, you are appreciated!

“Ehhh”
Reviewed August 15, 2014 via mobile

We stopped in for breakfast today and it seemed hit or miss. There were 5 of us in for breakfast. Two got skillets were enjoyed. Those with omelets weren't overly impressed. The home fries were precook was and reheated and "mushy". The waitress was great and the service was quick.

Thanks for the post, we always appreciate the feedback. The Omelets are rather simple & should be loaded.. It looks like you had ham & cheese. Our menu commits a three egg Omelet but they are generally 3-4 eggs and we add nothing to the eggs to gussy them up, pancake batter or water or milk like you may have expected. More specifics the owner would appreciate if you want to call for Howard. All of our Omelet ingredients are fresh but with ham & cheese I can only say it's a good ham, we dice it fresh and the Cheddar is real, pure Cheddar.
The Home Fries were likely not deep fried long enough, certainly not long enough for you. For 11 years we bring in fresh new red potatoes, wash, cut, par boil them to be deep fried for you at order. Our customers like them that way but they also like them crisp on the outside which we did not do for you----our mistake. You would not be willing to wait for fresh potatoes to fully cook from raw and I would guarantee you have never had such in a restaurant as most restaurants bring them in pre-cooked & finish them when you order. Our method allows us to serve food without preservatives & other additives that we would rather not eat or serve. We would be happy to recook anything that is not done right, just let us know. Still our mistake for serving them to you mushy when you want them crisp. Sorry again, should never happen here.
WE ALWAYS appreciate the feedback, on the spot especially preferred but here is good.

“50's retro decor, average fare”
Reviewed August 11, 2014

Not the worse food I've had, but typical mid-America diner fare, high in fat and all of the other less than healthy contents that make it taste good. :)
The service was excellent (Matt?) with this being a very late night visit at the end of a hectic day.
Fun place, very nice people, you can't miss it on the main drag going into town.

You have the owners apology because we failed you horribly if you did not know you have a choice at THE DINER to avoid all food high in fat with all the other non-healthy ingredients that you were apparently looking for. Our menu is being re-done, should be out soon and we sure hope it will better communicates what we have been serving for nearly 11 years.
The Salads & Soups are a good example of what you missed. There are six (6) big healthy salads that have a wonderful mix of healthy greens (spinach, Arcadian mix) and you can choose your from 8 MSG-free dressings plus having the option of extra virgin olive oil, with balsamic, blackberry balsamic, raspberry basil or 2 other vinegars.
The everyday vegetable soup is homemade with fresh ingredients, no preservatives, no MSG or food colorings or artificial ingredients.
Even the vegetables like our scratch turnip greens, vegetarian baked beans or soup beans, broccoli & cauliflower, green peas or corn are free of unhealthy ingredients. Our slaw is home made, fresh, no artificial ingredients.
As for the center plate item you could have selected a char-grilled chicken breast or char-grilled Buffalo or Elk burger or patty that have about 20-25% of the fat & cholesterol of ground beef. Even our burgers are all 81-19 Angus, char-grilled, no injections so are way above average healthy. We make our own meatloaf with no artificial coloring or preservatives, etc, using our 81-19 Angus ground beef. With nearly all of this (not the Angus, corn or baked beans) you can eat during a cleanse at THE DINER (the Elk, Buffalo, Chicken Breast all work. In other words you can choose to eat healthy or indulge........your choice.
Our omelets are loaded with fresh chopped & grilled ingredients so you could have had breakfast if eggs or egg whites are on your diet. There has never been a canned mushroom in THE DINER.
Our re-done menu with all this food we have been serving for 11 years should be much easier to find. Please try us again sometime, we really do apologize that you left not knowing this & more.
