Wilderness at the Smokies
Ranked #21 of 92 things to do in Sevierville
Attraction details

We took our child here for the indoor waterpark. I checked 'fee' for the attraction because technically it is a fee (added into the room price). While it may be a little expensive for some, the happiness from your child/children is priceless. The park has plenty of chairs, chaise lounges, tables/chairs by the Grill (rstnt) for you to sit. There is a full service bar for those who want or NEED it. :-) The temperature in the park was comfortable. The water was as you expected is cold (but not freezing). There is a hot tub as well. From the looks of how many cars/buses/campers were parked outside and people checking in, it didn’t seem so crowded inside the park. Yes, it was a lot of people but you were able to sit and/or move around without knocking someone over or get knocked over. It has a nice size game room as well. You don’t need any towels. They give you cards to get towels. (1 card per person) When you are done with the towels, let the person know (you’ll put towels in a bin) and you get your cards back to get clean towels for another time/day. Also, you can rent a locker. Afterwards, you get a $5.00 deposit back when you return the key. Remember the time you rent the locker, as it will speed up the process. They have to look through a stack of papers to find your name.

We stayed in a studio room @ River Lodge on 4th floor (didn't want any walking/stomping/running over our heads when trying to sleep) near the elevator and stairs. SO CONVENIENT (we'll pay extra for it again). This place is huge. If you don’t want to pay extra, stay in the other building. There is a shuttle provided for you or you can drive & try to find a spot or walk. Because it is wintertime, we chose the River Lodge. It is connected to the indoor waterpark and you never have to walk out the building to get to the fun. The room is basic but nice and clean. It is connected to another room but we didn’t have any issues from the neighbors. In our room, it has a 2 queen beds, TV, balcony, microwave w/ a vent, 2 burner flat stove (on the counter), mini fridge, coffee maker w/ coffee, 2 sinks, a safe and a couple of cabinets, love seat, table and 2 chairs. We only stayed 1 night. Families who stay longer may want to bring in supplies to minimize eating out. The bathroom is basic but clean and nice. It has a clothesline to pull out and hang your wet items. We used that, curtain rod, the towel bar on wall and hook behind the door. The beds slept fine. The pillows were kind of small and not as comfortable but for 1 night, it worked. If you have a comfortable pillow, bring it with you (if staying for a while). The only negative (if you would call it that) the price of the buffet for what they serve and the parking. Thankfully, we got a good parking spot by the entrance of where the room and waterpark is located. We decided to eat in the restaurant on-site due to 1-We didn't want to give up the parking spot and chance it to parking across street and 2-It was freezing outside. The food wasn't bad (just ok) but for $19, you would've expected a little more variety. Our child ate free - this was a plus because our child does not eat much anyway (2 1/2 slices of pizza and a small slice of cake w/ a little ice cream). :-) Truthfully, your child does not eat free. I believe it is included in the price. Fine with me. We came so our child can have a good time. SUCCESS! Let me clear this up – 1 child eats free per 1 paying adult (buffet). You can order from the menu. However, the child/children do not eat free from the menu.

Yes, we will return and will ask for the same room. Remember, when you check-in, do not sign-up for the Time Share. Just politely decline and go have some fun. We did not sign up but some people did and were disappointed or angry afterwards. If you don’t buy any timeshares, the people get really rude with you (as we were told). Room check-in is 4P or after. However, you can do an early check-in but can’t get into the rooms until close to or right at 4P. It was 3:30 and we were able to open our room. I’m not sure if it will happen for everyone. You can still go enjoy the waterpark and then go to your room later.

We did this trip last spring with three children ages 7 and under. The kids were in heaven! There were plenty of things to do for kids of all ages. The lifeguards were very attentive, which put me at ease a little. The rooms were great.

This resort has EVERYTHING you ever need. The waterpark is staffed with each area having lifeguards and employees the prices are reasonable. You can stay all day and never need to leave. The hot tub area that is indoor/outdoor is fabulous loved watching the stars come out in the hottub outside!

Took way to long to check in even though they did give me an upgrade to a nicer room, still was very frustrated after driving most of the day to get there. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THE APPT. TO REVIEW THEIR TIMESHARES!!! We fell into this trap and when we didn't buy into the people are extremely rude and they try to pressure you into signing up before they will let you leave. I had to say no like a thousand times and than they rudely exited out the door without so much as a friendly goodbye - will never stay at another one of these places again!!! To pressure middle class families into their so called timeshare is a joke, I would never pay out thousands of dollars on a fly by night deal without looking everything over and making sure it was a good decision for me and my family and they wouldn't let you do that. HIGH PRESSURE SALES TACTIC, what a joke. PLEASE BEWARE!!

The room was amazing and we only had a standard room. Loved the resort. We went on a Saturday and the indoor waterpark wasn't overcrowded at all. The game room was a blast our 3 year daughter had the time of her life playing all the games, "bowling", riding the frog hopper and climbing in the huge treehouse. Can't wait to return in the summer to check out the outside waterpark
