Stayed at Wyndham Smoky Mountains Sept 9-16 in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo with full cooking facilities. Arrived 5pm and easy checkin. Had requested 4th floor unit and was granted with no problem. Unit was clean, modern and fully stocked. In unit laundry, pool towels provided. Stayed in building 12. Had balcony overlooking some farmland. Only issue was smell sometimes from nearby landfill. Accomodations were conveniently located near restuarants, Walmart, and entertainment venues. Within easy drive to Pigeon Forge, Gatlinberg and the Smoky Mountains. The Wyndham resort itself is fine, with outdoor hot tub and pool and indoor pool in the main section, with mini golf and water play area for kids. The only problem was outdoor barbacue which require your own charcoal bricks...no gas barbacues. Overall, would highly recommend this resort for convenience and comfort for everyone if traveling in the area.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms to minimize noise

Regardless of the time of year you travel through Eastern Tennesssee, this area is one destination that should be highly considered. The Sevierville-Pigeon Forge-Gatlinburg area has so much to offer that it requires multiple stays to take everything in. Dollywood, Ripley's Aquarium, the many dinner theatres, with stars like Lee Greenwood, Louise Mandrell, and Ronny Lisap, retaurants and museums are only part of what you can find to do in the heart of the Great Smokey Mountains. Then, if you are a real driving enthusiast, about an hour away is highway US-129, otherwise know as "Tail of the Dragon". A winding 11 mile stretch of road through the mountains that has 318 curves and some of the best scenary in Tennessee!

The Wyndham Smokey Mountain is one of the newer resorts in the system and has been building now condos for many years now and should be nearing completion. There was a new visitor center built a few years ago and a new activity center just before that; so the facility as a whole is very nice and up to date. The condos are very rustic and decorated is the 'mountain decor', that one would expect in this area. The views from the balconies vary according to which building you are in, from just okay to spectacular. But, with so much to do, you probably will not be inside that much anyway! The staff is helpful for your requirements and you can get some good deals on the shows and attractions from the Consierge at the center. One thing that is better at this Wyndham over some, the sales staff does not 'hound' you to go to the 'short presentations. That relieves the stress of going to a meeting that could last four hours or ruin an entire day of your vacation.

On word about the area that no one talks about is the traffic! Over the years, Sevierville-Pigeon Forge has become so popular and built up so rapidly, that the infrastructure has not kept pace. If you try to get from north to south in the middle of the day, or when some of the shows let out, plan on at least an hour to go 2 miles. Unlike Branson, MO, which has some alternate routes on the outskirts, Sevierville-Pigeon Forge has very little in the way of backroads that can circumvent the traffic jams. Other than that, there is not much one can find wrong with this destination. Just plan well ahead for your trip, even if it is only to dinner!

Whether for the night or the week, Wyndham Smokey Mountains is an excellent place to stop and enjoy true Southern Hospitality!!

Room Tip: If you want a room with a view, ask for a condo in the buildings on the east side. Those are higher...

We stayed there in the beginning of August and had a three bedroom unit. The location of this resort is great and easy to get to restaurants, attractions and the National Park. Resort is very new and in good conditions (of course..). The resort is on both side of main road. On our side, the fitness center is small but we didn't have time to go to the other side since there were so many places we could go to. Staff members were very friendly.

I really have nothing to complain about this resort as long as you don't go to the sale pitch. You can take their free gift but not going to the sale pitch. :-)

We really like Galingburg (small town at the entrance of the National Park) and the hiking trails in the Park. We would definitely go back again in the future!

My husband and myself had a very restful and peaceful stay at the Wyndham Smoky Mts. Resort. All of the staff that we came in contact with were very friendly, polite and helpful especially Vickie. She arranged to have the mattress on the king bed to be changed. The one that was on the bed was broken down badly on the side that I slept. The first of the 3 nights was not very comfortable for me. However,I called and spoke to Vickie, who was very understanding and efficient in rectifying the issue.

We loved the curb side checkout. One thing that would we would have like was an onsite restuarant.

We will definitely return to the resort and since we have returned home I have sung your praises

I traded via rci for this timeshare property. Because I am not Wyndham Club I was approached day after check-in for a sales pitch. There's always an angle to get you to chat with them(mine was rci fees). Put your deflector shields up and RUN! Otherwise I found the place noisy; heard the folks upstairs & on the side. The place is a lovely property in a nice setting. Good location for families with kids. Facilities are good. Our unit was basically clean. The stove had 2 burners that didn't work and there were no wash cloths. Not a major problem. Other than the timeshare dishonesty (in tactics) I would say a good place to stay. It's near everything in Pigeon Forge but just enough off the beaten path.

Room Tip: Get up as high as you can and ask for view that doesn't overlook the parking lots.

If it was not for the noise issue I would rate this resort as excellent but as it is I would not go back. The walls are so thin you can hear conversations next door and every foot step above you. If you do go here try and get a 4th floor unit with no one scheduled on each side of you.

Beyond that this resort is fairly new so it is very nice and in great condition. The rooms are large and well decorated. The only real negative I can say about the condo itself is the 2 person jacuzzi tub is sized for 2 people with 25 inch waists. It clearly has 2 cut outs for 2 people but you have to be really tiny to fit in them. Everything else in the unit was excellent.

We avoided the sales pitch everyone talks about by not answering the door or phone. They tell you they have a free gift for you and ask to schedule an appointment to come to your room. How insulting! If that was really their motive they would have just given it to you at check in and they would not need to trap you in your room for a sales pitch.

Bottom line is it is a great resort as long as you have ear plugs or no neighbors.

Room Tip: Bring ear plugs!

We stayed Aug. 26th through Sept 2. This was a great place for a family. We had a 2 bedroom rental that was perfect size for 4 adults and 2 kids. My kids loved the splash pad and the play ground. There was even a mini golf course, that we never had time to play. Check in was easy. I had called a head to request a top floor room near the play area, a high chair, and a port-a-crib, the resort was able to accommodate all three requests. We did have a problem with the washing machine and the lights being burnt out, but one call and they fixed the problems very quickly.

The location from the main road was great. There was some traffic on the weekend but there was also a back road we took most of the time to avoid the traffic. The resort was right by Wal-mart, the Outlet mall, and lots of great eating places.

The one draw back was a smell outside every evening. We were told the resort was by the "dump" and that was the smell. It was not too bad unless it was a hot day.

Room Tip: Call ahead to get a good room. Top floor is the best.
