A short break from the fast pace of Christmas shopping. Jack's has the best pulled pork sandwich anywhere. Located just a short distance from Pigeon Forge it is a great side trip.

While in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, why not make friends with your taste buds and head over to Wears Valley and eat at Dakota Jacks! He's easy to find, just head down 321 out of Pigeon Forge about 15 minutes and look for the Octagon Building on your left. While your there, ask Jack how he came up with the name! Oh and make sure you do two things before you go, tell him Rich says hi and have one of his wife's homemade fried Pecan pies! It'll make you want to "Slap yo' mamma!"

We had carry out from here today and it was awesome! My husband and I both had the $5 lunch special, which is one side, one pop, and one bbq sandwich. The sandwich is chopped pork and has a delicious, smoky-sweet flavor. The sauce compliments the meat, it doesnt cover it up. The side offerings are coleslaw, potato salad, and baked beans, which were all fantastic. This spot is on Wears Valley Road and well worth the stop; we will stop here on our future visits. Can't see why there are other bbq joints in town. They do accept Visa/MC and website guides say they are open Wed -Sat @11am.
This place is fantastic.

Wanted some good non-chain BBQ. Passed this place several times and decide it give it a try! Got the picnic pack for 4! Best BBQ ever! Will never eat BBQ anywhere else in the Smokies again! Worth the short drive off the strip!

Dakota Jack's is exactly what a q fan is looking for: tiny, side-of-the-road, pit barbeque--specializes in pork (per the name of the joint). The ribs and pulled pork sandwich were fantastic--meat melting off the bone ribs. And get the baked beans for sure--best I've had. Jack himself is a sweetheart. Just a few tables inside and a couple on the patio, with a view of the pit--filled with locals, always a good sign. And the price makes the whole thing a no-brainer. Get there.
