If you are visiting Rock Island, TN or staying at Rock Island state park and you are hungry, this is definitely the place to eat. You will notice the parking lot full of local cars, so obviously it is the place to eat. At first glance, you probably will wonder if this "market" is a place to eat at all. It looks like a market with gas pumps out front, but once you get past the live bait and the pizza and sub sandwiches, you will find numerous tables in the back and a wide array of food to pick from along the serving line. Find a table, if you can, sit down and let one of the delightful waitresses take your order. There are always daily specials such as Cajun chicken or pork chops, and a large menu of items. If you are real hunger, go for one of the "large" hamburgers and be ready for a more than you can eat burger. Also on the white board will be a long list of vegetables of the day ranging from pinto beans, served with onions and cornbread, to collard greens, sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes. All of the food is great and the prices are very reasonable (which I can't say about the market). Expect to spend $2 to $3 for burgers or sandwiches and around $7 for a meat and three dinner. Pay at the market cashier as you leave. All tips go in a jar and are share by the many helpful members of the staff.
