Great little walking place. Great for hiking. Most gravel travels, which are good for bikes. Great for all ages. One of my family's favorite spots to go.

I enjoyed Pinson Mounds. The little museum is small but gives a good general overview of the site. I highly suggest watching the film as it put so much into perspective while we looked around the site. The walking paths were very well maintained, and the staff was helpful and welcoming. Bring bottled water with you if the weather is hot, as I only saw one older soda machine near the museum.

I enjoyed visiting Pinson Mounds. It's not too far south of Jackson, TN on US 45, but you have to follow the signs once you get to Pinson, TN, since it is located on a local road, about 2 miles from the main highway. The park is larger than I thought, covering quite a few acres. Also there were more mounds of various sizes than I thought. Saul's mound is the highest, at 72 feet, and is quite impressive. It is one of the highest Indian mounds in the USA. Many of the trails are paved with asphalt, and I spent more than an hour hiking through the woods, visiting various parts of the park, including the overlook of the South Fork Forked Deer River, which flows along the southern boundary of the park. The museum is interesting, and the exterior is unique, looking like one of the mounds. I enjoyed stopping here and learning about the Native American culture before the arrival of the Europeans, and also experiencing the beauty of the woods of Western Tennessee.

This is a gem just off HWY 45 between Jackson and Henderson, TN. The Indian mounds are super interesting and the museum is excellent. Make a day of it and head up the road to Henderson and go to Bells Drive-In for the best burger you will ever eat.
