“Labor Day Getaway”
Reviewed September 14, 2011

Labor Day weekend September 2-6, 2011, we escaped to the Smoky Mountains to relax and enjoy some quality family time. My wife and I met my son and his girlfriend at Black Bear Ridge Resort. We stayed in Wet-N-Wild, a two bedroom/two bathrooms cabin. The cabin was above average clean, the amenities are luxurious and the hot tub for four was great. The indoor pool needed chemicals, but really didn't have time to enjoy pool most evenings were spent in the hot tub. Black Bear Ridge Resort rental company was great to work with and the scenery from the cabin was breath taking. Black Bear Ridge Resort is only about 15 minutes from the Parkway. Enjoyed Wet-N-Wild!

I stayed for one week with about 20 family members in one of these fantastic log cabins. We ALL slept comfortably and had plenty to do. Our cabin was fitted with hot tubs, bunk beds, a pool table and the basement had a movie room, equipped with reclining movie chairs.

We walked the grounds a couple of mornings and was impressed by how well kept the common areas are. I will defiantly be back!

The cabin was clean and neat. The view was obstructed by trees but that led to the illusion you were away from others. Remember this is a resort and the cabins are close together but the direction you look from the balconies still give the impression you are away from it all. We loved the pool and hot tub and jacuzzi in the cabin. The TV's could use some updating but we did not watch that often. It was very clean and tidy and the decor was awesome. My wife loved the theme. Would stay again if we get the chance. Looks as if the place is well taken care of and the hosts are pleasant.

We spent 5 nights in the Mountain Love Cabin, and actually Loved it!, the cabin was nice, Could use some updates, such as sofa, and mattress! We had nice clean sheets and towels!! does offer lots of shade, no high mountain view from cabin, worked out really well, since I prefer not to be up on a mountain! Pool table in the loft, my seventeen year old son loved that!...heart shaped tub in loft area was a plus, window shades needed a good cleaning, flloors and rugs needed washed nothing major unless you are a clean freak, While we were there it was quiet and peaceful, we had a nice vacation and the cabin was sooo much better than a motel...only con was No Wifi......................

We reserved "Love Shack" for the Memorial Day weekend. It was the only cabin left with a mountain view that wasn't already booked. The pictures of it were very nice and one night free stay was offered.

When we arrived we were given written instructions on how to get to the cabin. The directions were not clear. We had to call the number on the instructions for help if we had trouble. The person that answered had never been there, so her help was useless. She gave us the name of the maintenance man, but we only got his voicemail. He never called us back. After three phone calls to the same woman we finally found the cabin. The reason we didn't see the cabini was because there was a double wide mobile home just feet from the cabin with lots of old cars around it. One work truck was actually parked at the cabin. It was dark by then so I couldn't see the view.

When we went inside the cabin it wreaked of cigarette smoke and sewer gas. The kitchen sink had two pieces of chewed gum spit in it. There was a large mirror behind the bed that had handprints on it. The toilet hadn't been cleaned. It wasn't stained, it was filthy. The bathroom is old and outdated. There was no bedside lamp, only a ceiling fan that was filthy, didn't work properly and had a light burned out in it. The bed was not made properly. It looked as though somebody had been sitting on it.

We couldn't stay because of the uncleanliness. We left and found a motel. The resort quickly refunded our money the next day, but it was too late for us to find a small cabin with a mountain view on a holiday weekend.

If I were you I would not trust this resort with your vacation.

First this is a Resort that has several cabins. Those cabins are privately owned and you rent them through management companies, therefore if you don't like one cabin DOESN'T mean you won't like another one. There are so many to pick from and it feels VERY safe. High enough for gorgeous views yet I don't feel like I'm stuck in the woods in a scary area. The cabins we stayed were very fancy and never had anything wrong with it. The people that are reviewing this and have TONS of negative stuff to say probably complain about everything. If you want to stay in a nice resort I'd stay here or Legacy or Bear Creek Crossing :-) We went through Eden Crest Rentals and they were very nice and helpful!

2 adults, 2 teen girls, 1 small dog. This area is WAY over-developed. Typical cookie-cutter cheap cabins, doors that would not shut tight, toilets that didn't flush right, leaking faucets, dish washer that doesn't get the dishes clean, filthy windows. Oversized furniture that didn't fit the size of the rooms, game room items missing things (pool table missing balls, air hockey missing puck, etc.), old uncomfortable beds, broken or chipped dishes, filthy pots & pans. Cabins sit on top of other cabins. No privacy at all, someone always looking to see what we were doing, felt like we were on display!
